said this earlier as well! There’s just SOMETHING I can’t put my finger on. I don’t know why I can’t warm to him at all!

(Granted, in general if you have a beating pulse and you’re not the sex god that is Neil Jones there’s a 99.8% chance I won’t like you 😂)

I was so excited at work to watch it, but it was so boring apart from the obvious couple of gooduns.
The romance speculations are ridiculous now. It's like the only thing Strictly have got to keep people engaged.
The near kiss has been the most exciting part of the series.

I think he thinks, he’s in the delia/nigella/Mary school of cookery league. He appears on Stephs packed lunch which once recorded the grand total of zero viewers. He’s trying to up his profile but he’s starting to be irritating.

However if they did get eliminated you just know they’d be inundated with complaints about how homophobic strictly is. (Although the three main front runners are deaf,black and gay so people would probably whinge and throw certain accusations around regardless because people are annoying)

Unfortunately J&J peaked really early with the pirates dance. This happens with some contestants and some can’t come back from it and end up eliminated earlier than they should, it’s almost a reverse to the typical journey contestant.

Their last couple of dances have really lacked something (for me at least they have). The quickstep seemed to go on for ages tonight and had a lot of very samey content and repeated sections. There’s also something about John I can’t put my finger on. There’s just something unlikeable and I don’t know what it is. I just get weird vibes from him.

Re couples choice

I think they dropped the categories when basically everyone was “choosing” street/commercial (commercial dance being a really open to interpretation because it takes in so much as. Commercial dance being mostly the kind of dancing you’d see backing dancers do at a pop concert). I imagine it’s also very dependent on what choreographers are available.

I feel like I’m waiting for John’s mask to slip, he’s a bit disingenuous for me. I thought a few weeks ago they’d peaked too soon. And because AJ has been great from the start too, maybe they are playing along with the whole “are they/aren’t they” to keep the interest in them?

The right result would be for Judi to be eliminated this week and then the fun really begins!
 
Oh, I thought Kai was Pinocchio. The face just looked like him.

I have had wine tonight so feel a tad bitchy, but I thought Nadiya pulled off that red hair better than Dianne ever has. Mind you, if that was Nadiya as Gandalf with the beard in the pro dance, she looked bloody good like that too. The woman can never look anything less than stellar.

they’re really good dancers!! And sure the OAP neighbour has learned LQBTQ isn’t a petrol station in the U.K. because of them (it’s a joke!!)
But I just don’t like them, I kinda get really fake vibes from them.

BBC producers have played a long game with this. They knew that they want same sex couples to be included. Last year, two females - one of them National treasure, Nicola Adams. Non-threatening to middle England. That was the toe in the water. At the same time, start prepping for two males. Employed Johannes, but paired with non-threatening Caroline Quentin. Threw in a bit of drag to get the viewers acclimatised. Then a search for a Celeb. John said he knew he was doing SCD In January- I suspect he has been lined up way before then. Since then John is almost unrecognisable from his natural self. Looks twice the size, dyed hair, new teeth, fake tan.He has been preparing the way - the producers had the Celeb partner as being the stronger of the two, as Johannes is slight, and he has bulked up in advance so he can do the heavy lifting. All planned out to get us to this point. Ideally they would like them to win, but Rose has scuppered them.

Interesting - do you think that Johannes was specifically hired so they could eventually do a same-sex pairing a couple of years down the line? Makes me wonder what his future on the show would be after John, I don't see him quitting or being dropped but interesting if this partnership was the whole reason he's on.

I do definitely agree that the all female pairing with Nicola/Katya was meant to be the warm up for an all male pairing this year.
