Southport Attacks and Aftermath #5

IMHO this is the problem with MSM and SM.. we are either drip fed information to have us think a certain way or are fed down right lies to follow a certain narrative. I understand the public curiosity (not sure that’s the right word) and the need to know information but surely it’s best to not know until the trial when we can all see the facts and make our mind up then. I have said before but I just don’t understand why WE need to know whether initial reports were correct or whether we, as the public, have been lied to by the media or government unless we are in immediate danger. Surely all speculation does is add fuel to an already massive and out of control fire. I don’t just mean this case but all cases, especially high profile.

I think if it was just that they didn’t reveal then fine, we don’t need to know until the trial and until due process has taken but if they choose to lie then I think it’s always in the public interest to know whether or not the media or the government are lying - no matter what it’s about.

The distinction between saying “At this point there is no evidence of any motive and we would ask you not to speculate about any” and “This motive isn’t true and you’re all racist for saying it could be but feel free to speculate he’s an incel or autistic or a loner” is massive.

The same way maybe the young boy picture was all they had at first and absolutely fair enough then, that’s a very simple explanation that makes perfect sense - but now they are choosing to lead with that over the pic of him in the dock that explanation no longer suffices.

Yes but this explains my point exactly… MSM and SM have put that pic out there with the ‘choir boy’ narrative. I may have missed something more but did the government say that? Or were they just trying to reduce the level of racist bigotry riots that happened after? I am not in the know of everything and have only seen what I have seen re the perpetrator. But innocent people were targeted over one individual regardless of his religion, colour, creed etc. Had a non-religious white man carried out this appalling act, what would people think then?

I’d be equally horrified!

I think if I was a loved one of one of the victims of the stabbing, especially the children, I would find it very hard having AR’s childhood photo used in every article about him.
However I think if he is found guilty or goes to hospital, etc then a mugshot will be released much like the two murderers of Brianna Ghey and the young couple who killed the girl’s mum and sister (name escapes me).

The trials will last for weeks though, so it's not like they're not going to get any coverage

I don't know, the press seemed really reluctant to cover the Deveca Rose trial - the mum who killed her two sets of twins because she left them and the house caught fire.

They were also pretty quiet about the deaths on Bournemouth beach last summer which IIRC wound up being a suspected riptide... I'm actually still not sure because there's really not a lot of information at all.

The Bournemouth beach murder trial is happening at the moment and is reported on multiple news sites, the opening days were one of the top stories on the Daily Mail. Same with Deveca Rose, that was also reported everywhere?

I think there’s two seperate Bournemouth beach incidents. The murder happened this year and the riptide was last summer

I was talking about the mass casulties event where several young people were injured and two died.

Are you talking about the murder of Amie Gray? Indeed, yes, that has been well covered.

Deveca Rose was reported but I felt not as much as it might have been. I think people wanted to show sensitivity to a mother who'd lost her kids?

Ah sorry I didn't read properly at all. I'd completely forgotten about that, dreadful. Just googled and the inquest concluded in October with an accidental death verdict.

Thanks for the link.

Considering the initial reaction and controversy to the case, it just felt like it kind of disappeared from public interest by the time the inquest came out. And before the inquest, comment sections everywhere were very, very strictly moderated IIRC. It was an odd one. But sometimes that's life, lots of things unexplained and there isn't always someone to blame.
