Considering the initial reaction and controversy to the case, it just felt like it kind of disappeared from public interest by the time the inquest came out. And before the inquest, comment sections everywhere were very, very strictly moderated IIRC. It was an odd one. But sometimes that's life, lots of things unexplained and there isn't always someone to blame.

Wasn’t it that they thought a man with a boat might have hit them but it turned out the boat was docked prior to the incident?

I recall someone was arrested at one point but I don't think anything came of it. I think the boat was taken out of service and possibly impounded but I'd have to double check.

The way anything to do with that how the incident was reported overall has been very confusing to me.

Hilary term, January 13th.
Prior to that open for remand cases from 2nd January. Think it is dependent on where trial is held too. So magistrate to Crown all vary.
High profile cases will be covered despite the inauguration.
I do get what you mean about the attention being on the main attraction of Trump. I think UK press will cover this in detail especially due to the aftermath of the senseless killings.

I was thinking what a hard time it must be for the families and community, the first Christmas without Alice, Elsie and Bebe. New year followed by the trial, it must be difficult beyond our comprehension the strength needed to get through and I hope all those who are can get the support they need.

That’s a life sentence for the parents 🙁 will it not go to the Old Bailey given the scale of the crime?
 
This country is a bloody disgrace. So the child murderer has now got the courts dancing to his tune. He's 18 year old and there should be no reporting restrictions and he should be dragged there by his hair if necessary and his face should be on full view. Has the killer got himself a beard that he's hiding. He's pleaded Not guilty with his solicitor speaking on his behalf. It's a farce! Keir Starmer you should be thoroughly ashamed of yourself covering this up. Your wife should be divorcing you. Think of the parents of those poor little girls and all of the others this has badly affected. Hang your head in shame Keir Starmer and your hangers on. It's disgusting!!

What has been covered up? And what is Starmer meant to be hanging his head in shame for? The CJS following completely standard processes...?

Under our justice system somebody is presumed innocent until proved guilty (or some such similar expression). Whilst it does indeed look like he's guilty as hell that doesn't mean that we should ignore this process which is very important to our democracy as technically he's just being accused of being a child murderer at this point. As you'll know, people have been tried for things in the past and been found innocent, if it's all reported on at that point, they've been humiliated unfairly. If we want to have an honest justice system them we can't pick and choose how we try people based on the repulsiveness of the act. Not quite sure why you think this is all Starmer's fault either unless you believe the rubbish that has been posted about him bringing the father to the UK.

Definitely a possibility as I think I read he's autistic. More likely just told to stay quiet though. Or nerves?

Families are immensely brave to go to court and face him. I think people forget that some of the surviving children still have so much trauma and some physical injuries to recover from - one girl will be on life long medication as she lost her spleen in the attack (but at least still has her life)
