A pub is also a really inappropriate venue for a local authority to engage with vulnerable people, some of whom are likely to have issues with alcohol etc.
I was mithering about this to myself. I guess if the aim is to get it out amongst the, I don't know how to put this, "non-service user proportion" of the population (i.e. just boost general awareness amongst the general population about mental wellness rather than engaging with those at the sharper end of mental illness, iygm?) it's possibly, not a good idea, but not a not bad idea.
But I do agree with you, considering the massive overlap between alcohol and mental health issues, it's a bit on the nose. And it also potentially shuts out anybody with cultural or religious reasons to abstain from alcohol who might not feel comfortable going into a pub...
And actually, no, now I've thought this out, considering councils aren't exactly lacking in bookable spaces that can be used for community activity, why would you hold it in a pub????
