At least it's a start. Ironically, for Si, the PO scandal began like that. Lots of flimflam and denials.

This paragraph is interesting. What extra work did Fatty do?

'Activity to directly support others doing similar work' at most means an occasional zoom call or email to wibble at them 'oh yes we do that too - it's bwilliant'.
 
Someone asked a while back why it’s always left wing types who get hauled over the coals. I don’t think it is always - remember Jeffrey Archer and Christopher Davies (you may not remember his name but he was the Tory MP who was convicted of spending £90,000 of public money on his mansion, including a duck house). Therr have been plenty of right wing wrong uns.

BUT Harris and Monroe et al are more egregious to me because they regularly berate the Tories for their austerity policies while stealing from the public purse. Tax evasion/avoidance, failing to pay bounce back loans and whatever covid payment Jack Monroe got are stealing from the NHS and the poor.

It’s the ultimate hypocrisy.

Also I’m left wing and I expect better.
 
Well that’s all a bit deflating. The Essex live article is a load of shite too. If you read that and knew nothing else, you’d just think he got lucky by landing a contract from a panicky council who were throwing money around during Covid. No mention of Kirsty O’Callaghan or Social Kind(ness) and Simon’s links to the woman who signed off on these absurd payments, that’s the whole bleeping point!

Now some of his moronic fans are creeping back out of the woodwork and defending him off the back of it 🙄

He is 100% fucked though.
I sincerely hope this article is just the beginning.
And like Monroe, they may still have some of their ill gotten gains but the thing they adore most, the adulation and pats on the back, has been removed because of their greed. No audience. Worst thing that could happen to them.
 
An EssexLive article written in a few minutes is hardly going to be some big expose. Those journalists have to produce lots of articles every day.

To do it properly would take months, require extensive legal advice etc etc. It's completely outside the realm of these sorts of news organisations.


Even, as I expect, nothing comes of it, the council won't be giving him any new contracts. And if he were to go back on Twitter his brand of humour ("aren't these people corrupt/terrible") just won't land. He'll still have a few supporters as people hate to admit they've been duped, but he's completely hamstrung.
