They were so classist about Debbie and her ‘acrylic nails and shoes’. Their privilege really showed.
They were awful about Debbie! She seemed lovely too and much better suited to Steve
You know, the second movie was a carpet-bombing of utter garbage. Just non-stop dogshit, start to finish. But the bit that always stands out to me isn't one of the high-level things like Sam Jones turning into some kind of horny dementia patient, the equivocating between "I have to live in a 2nd apartment sometimes because I hate my sugar daddy" and "I literally can't afford to see my wife" or even the toe-curling "Ha ha, Islamic women can be consumerist husks as well! Feminism!" reveal.
It's the bit at the start, with the gay wedding, where Carrie's having a "moment" with Stanford, except they couldn't be arsed writing dialogue so they just padded it out with gurning and chuckling at each other for what feels like hours. Always puts me in mind of Kevin Eldon's cameo in I'm Alan Partridge, and is an amazingly "Fuckit, this'll do" piece of low-effort filmmaking. I dunno why it offends me so much.
yeah I agree, this and the thing with Miranda not having had a bikini wax in the first filmThe worst bit for me is when Samantha comes back from LA to surprise them and she’s supposedly meant to be “fat” and it’s super shocking to all the women. Dealt with so badly and not reflective of in the actual show when Miranda was loosing her baby weight and there were no strange comments about that (that I can remember)

She was bent double trying to get a fat roll, they tried to squeeze her into a size 2 rather than a 4 maybe. She looked amazing and the fat shaming bit was awful.Yes!
In the show when Miranda is losing the baby weight, they all defend her from a horrible man in Atlantic City who calls her a “fat ass” (or similar).
Just a few years later they bang on “with love” supposedly about Samantha being fat. She’s not even fat. Maybe I’m just not at all observant but I remember watching the movie and thinking “wait, did they even try and make her look bigger because she still looks exactly the same??”
yeah it must have been awful for Kim Kattral personally imo, it would make me really insecureShe was bent double trying to get a fat roll, they tried to squeeze her into a size 2 rather than a 4 maybe. She looked amazing and the fat shaming bit was awful.
I thought Debbie was gorgeous. They were so classist about Debbie and her ‘acrylic nails and shoes’. Their privilege really showed.
I didn't like Trey at all, but I feel like Charlotte only has herself to blame for the mess their relationship was. She was just desperate to marry someone rich and from a "good" family, it was her choice not to have sex before marriage, had she not dont that she probably would have realised the relationship wouldn't work before getting married, or even engaged
Back to Robert I loved the big cookie.Hated how they made him into a stereotypical mr lover man after Miranda dumped him eg threesomes with models.Just to make Miranda look good. She was a witch to him but that’s fine because he got over it and had a threesome .He was pretty perfect a Doctor for a big team good with her kid and lived in her building
yeah totally agree, when she was with harry and said "don't you see how people look at us" saying how much better looking she was I was If I was harry I dont think I could come back from thatI agree with this. Charlotte was so superficial early on, desperate for a WASP, handsome rich husband. She got one and of course it didn't work out. Trey made mistakes and wasn't right for Charlotte but he wasn't a bad guy. I felt Charlotte acted spoilt regarding the million dollar pre nup and the park avenue apartment. She was hardly treated badly by Trey.
"Be kind! Hes still in love with me!"... that really annoyed me. I normally love Miranda but she was a dick in that episode.
My heart broke for Harry when she said that to himyeah totally agree, when she was with harry and said "don't you see how people look at us" saying how much better looking she was I was If I was harry I dont think I could come back from that
I think the writers knew they were making Miranda horrible about Debbie for no reason. Debbie being working class and a nice person was a vehicle to enable Miranda to realise how she wanted to get back with Steve. Her ugly and unfounded bitchiness towards Debbie is jealousy of her relationship with Steve. It was a classic dickish misogynist move on the part of the writers, to be honest, pitting the working class ‘salt of the earth’ woman against the cold, wealthier ‘witch’, with a helpless ‘Good Guy’ () in the middle.
Reminds me of the time when Miranda started to going out with Steve and Charlotte made a huge point of him being working class .
She was stunning! Carrie's voice-over was like "She wasn't expecting Steve's new girlfriend to be a knock-out". Miranda was obviously thinking he couldn't do better than her! And poor Debbie trying to make an effort to get along with the mother of her boyfriend's child and they were all ripping into her saying she had ulterior motives? Super-bitchy, same as they all were about Natasha who did absolutely nothing wrong at any point.I thought Debbie was gorgeous.
