i thought the cheating thing did kind of make sense tbh, what I hated was when in the first film Miranda hadn't bikini waxed and Samantha shamed her for it
Yes agree it was the whole thing of the popularity of the Brazilian wax at the time , not good at all thank God we have seemed to come back to it being an individual choice now and the natural look being embraced again!

yeah true, yet another one of the things that would be done differently now. I am really intrigued to see if the new series is much more 2021 or the characters continue to be the same and kind of dated

Yes like Skip! Miranda was absolutely vile to him. To be fair they were all pretty vile to all of their partners though 😂
I find it strange how immature her attitude was to him, like she kind of always felt she was "better" than him, which to me seems very teenager/maybe early 20s. It is funny for me watching it again as around their age as I watched the final season when I was about 17

I also wouldn’t buy the ‘drifted apart’ reasoning as a fan of the series and the first film... it just doesn’t make sense for the characters. Kim Cattrall is clearly never going back so they might as well kill Samantha off (as much as I love her!) rather than leave the door open for someone who doesn’t want it. I really respect her for speaking up about the experience she had working on the show/films and not selling out by putting herself through it again.

Maybe Stanford will move more into the group? Willie Garson and SJP seem to be very close in real life.

I'm not sure I want to see Samantha killed off. One, I can still have hope that she may return for a later series and two, I think an offscreen death is cheap. I want to ball my eyes out if Sam dies not have a throwaway line.

I hated that Steve cheated too. I was disgusted tbh especially as it was twisted into Miranda's fault he cheated! And she took him back! I didn't think it was realistic, he absolutely adored Miranda, just a clichéd way to give Miranda a storyline.

Ok, I'm going to probably be slaughtered here, but does anyone ever just sit down now and watch a film or TV series from 20 years ago and not note every single discrepancy regarding anything sub absolute perfectly PC? Don't get me wrong at all, I an so grateful for all the amazing positive changes that there have been (and plenty more that need doing) . I'm also not saying that the new series should be in keeping with the old either, but am I the only one who just sits and watches something and thoroughly enjoys it without even noticing everything about how incorrect it may be (aside from trump being in the restaurant and Samantha getting excited over Harvey Weinstein being at a party 😬).
A friend of mine launched into a scathing attack on the film ' pretty woman' and so many joined in to say how they had also watched it recently and how this, that and the other it was and how it should he banned for being so incorrect... Maybe I'm too dopey to take note

Anyway...that's my bit, can't wait to see the new series, loving rewatching it all in anticipation of the new series 💗💗💗

Don't worry you won't get slaughtered! It's an interesting point.

I think although there are some things in it that haven't aged well, it was very progressive at the time in other ways. My mum said it was the first thing she ever watched where women seemed genuinely independent, unashamedly enjoying sex, and not just living for men (tho tbf Charlotte could be a bit like that haha).

So I can kinda just watch it and appreciate it still. But I have seen people on twitter moaning like "oh they're gonna make the revival so woke" .. if they're gonna be mad that they may include more POC etc then it says more about them really..

i’m the same, even though films/shows probably not pc by today’s standards i still enjoy them and hate how everything made today has to have some kind of PC angle. Puts me off actually.

I completely agree. Wasn't it just so lovely to be able to watch something enjoyable rather than being preached to. Life doesn't have to be so serious all of the time.

Following on from a different thread, thought this topic needed its own thread....

I loved it, I was 17/18 when it first came out, watched all episodes and loved the first movie, second movie wasn’t that great.

started rewatching them at the start of lockdown....

why did I want to be like them all??
Why would I want to spend thousands on shoes, beg an ex for money, argue with a friend because she wouldn’t lend me money, be extremely selfish....

why would I want to work all hours god sends that the take away knows my order, I never see my child awake, I treat the father of my child like tit....and again selfish

why would I want meaningless relationships/sex and judge all men by their cock size??? Finally find someone that loves me and then cheat on them ???

why would I want to be a stay at home wife, dependant on my husbands money to pay for my amazing apartment??
There’s loads more as I’m sure you will all add to.....

I loved it but now I’m embarrassed by it, it’s still funny but not real life, doesn’t represent real women in the late 1990s early 2000s unless you were an it girl like TPT or the primrose hill gang or even the ladettes
So glad someone else said this!

Ohhh that’s a shame about Big & Steve. I adore SATC but I don’t think this new series is going to work at all! The whole Carrie/Big situation was central to SATC & even in the 2 films. There was rumours a while back saying they would kill Big off with a heart attack (circa his heart problems in the series) and possibly Steve cheated again? What next, no Harry!?

That’s going to be a lot of absences to explain! I’m agreeing with you guys though on possible character plots.

Samantha-moved to a different country
Mr Big-dies of a heart attack
Steve-relationship break up.

That’s not how I would like it, to be honest-especially with Samantha.
