I used to really like Kathy Burke. Then I read how she proudly supports men in women spaces, and saw on her documentary how she encouraged and approved of the, obviously vulnerable, Megan Barton -Hanson with her sex work, - making out it was all ‘girl power’.
She also recently declared that Katie Price ‘was a brilliant mother’.

She’s a massive let down imo.

She got really arsey with a perfectly friendly and polite radio presenter for having the cheek to mention Kevin and Perry when she was there to plug another project. Her cuntiness shone through and I’ve never seen her the same way since.

ETA people are allowed to have a bad day or indeed be cunty of course, it just seemed at the time to me so unnecessary

100% agree. She can get in the bin as far as I'm concerned.

I watched that documentary. I got the impression that Kathy finds it hard to reconcile her innate no-nonsense working class self with her champagne socialist luvvie self. She’s clearly an intelligent, sensible, no-bullshit woman, and said some really insightful things about men and male behaviour. She is a let down for sure.

All of the rainbow laces, pride stuff in football was essentially rendered more hollow than an old easter egg with the triple whammy that is middle eastern nation states owning clubs, the Qatar world cup and Jordan Henderson going to Saudi after previously being one of the campaign's most high profile advocates.

As said there is a lot more people who seem to be ambivalent towards players decisions on the rainbow armbands than James Maclean's refusal to wear a poppy, which is odd to say the least.

The current PL footballer under investigation for rape who played last night is another issue, unfortunately there is seemingly a trend in football for that: Anthony also got minutes I see, Mason Greenwood continues to play, never mind everything that is no doubt swept under the carpet.

I love football but it always has been a rotten business devoid of morals, people will claim that it never used to be like that but it's rose tinted nostalgia I'm afraid. The amount of historic allegations in recent years shows that there will always be people willing to exploit power dynamics.

I’ve found the more some celebrities are held up as National Treasures™️ the cuntier their behaviour becomes to people they think are beneath them. It’s like they think they’ve made it so longer need to keep up the pretence that they’re affable men/women of the people or that everyone will think whatever they do is so endearing they can can get way with it.

Miriam Margoyles is another. She’s the female equivalent of the dirty, old man you’d normally find in a corner of a dive pub, burping away and making a nuisance of themselves to bar staff.

I can't stand Margolyes and her disgusting stories. It's not being real or whatever it's just trying to be shocking to get a reaction.

I remember her telling an apparently innocent story about meeting Laurence Olivier when she was young but then she immediately ruined it by talking about "creaming her knickers".

Matthew Perry, who was on the show with her, was clearly uncomfortable, and people in comments sections often try to make out HE was in the wrong! I wish someone would call her out on her crap, but she'd just call them sexist or ageist or some bullshit.

You wouldn't make a whole team wear crosses around their neck because 1 person in the team is a Christian, likewise you wouldn't make everyone wear vegan football boots because a few of the team are vegan.

I agree that anything remotely political should be kept out of it as it takes the focus away from the sport itself and just drives up negativity, why aren't they wearing xxx etc.

Like CarmenGhia said above, if you're made wear something even when you don't want to, it's meaningless isn't it? Do you need a showy display to show you support a cause?
Plus - where do you stop? There are so many worthy causes, political and non-political, which can be divisive.

There should be no political flag-flying in sport or in public bodies eg NHS, police force etc. These should be all-inclusive and treat everyone equally.

I wear a rainbow lanyard for work. It is not virtue signalling, it is to signify that I am an ally.
Well, good for you @HowVery - does this mean that you aren't courteous and fair to straight/ non-trans/ whatever people? I hope not - I hope that anyone would receive equal treatment from you. And you say you wear it to indicate that you are an "ally" - if everyone is compelled to wear them, how can anyone tell who is an ally and who is not? How do people know that you are the "safe" one to approach? And what difference does being an "ally" make to the way you do your job? You should do it to the best of your ability anyway.

i have an issue when footballers won’t wear rainbow stuff for their religion but do happily having betting firms on their shirts….

One might think their issue is less religion and more…. Well…. Bigotry hidden behind religion.
the betting thing is written in their contract to say that they must adhere to the sponsors of the club

People didn't like the training as they found it patronising, with a lot of people just saying that they honestly did not care if someone was gay because that is nothing to do with what they did at work.

.
The reason i wont fill out diversity form with anything other than prefer not to say. Unless you are meant to be having sex at work as part of your role or performing religious rites then its none of anyones ruddy business if you are a purple alien that will shag anything. and certainly bugger all to do with your job

Surely with her vulgar jokes and crass and unprofessional uncomfortable comments she should be pulled up too like Greg(g).

(I known they are not the same but they are alike in that they both make sexually inappropriate remarks).

Is Miriam a female version of Gregggggg?

Miriam Margoyles is an attention seeking vulgar nasty show off. She has to keep saying 'cheeky' and outrageous things so people will say 'oh Miriam aren't you terrible'. Always eating her foul raw onions for attention.
She was on Graham Norton once and other guests were bring talked to and she hated it. Hated it. So to draw attention back to herself she said out of the blue 'I really hate that little actress' so of course they all said 'oh who?' and she said 'the little one who steals things. Winona something' looking terribly pleased with herself. It was totally uncalled for. She's got a very nasty side. I haven't read her book but I imagine it's in the same vein - lots of nasty stories about people which she'd no doubt call being honest.

I think the forms are just because large firms have to report on diversity in the workforce, I don’t think it’s like a dating application.

Could be wrong though xx

These days it ought to say are you a sexual harasser and/or predator.

TBH if a bloke was saying the nonsense she comes out with they'd be persecuted. As @FrannyGallops said, she's the female equivalent of a dirty old man. I really cannot stand her and won't watch anything she's on.

Just going back to the Gregg situation for a minute, there was a guy on Married At First Sight UK, Luke, who repeatedly said very inappropriate things no matter how many times he was told to stop it. His bride and the experts were literally telling him every other day that she didn't find it attractive in the least and it was a massive ick. He thought he was paying her compliments!! It resulted in him writing a letter to try and win her back but ended up with him saying 'he wished he had terrorised her bum hole' .

Better makeup and favourable lighting in that 2024 pic as well. And possibly a wig.

Yeah it's a good pic.

Here's another from the same night with more honest lighting.

Still an improvement on some of the previous pics though.
