Whatever happened to the table she set up in a pub for companies to visit HER?
Whatever happened to being a journalist? The only thing she'd ever wanted to be since the age of 4.

I wonder whether she gave up journalism in favour of the, presumably, much more lucrative work of being a social media influencer. Or whether journalism gave her up and she stopped getting commissions. Maybe a bit of both.

I would say that she never seemed to be a natural writer - the forced metaphors and clunky sentences. Nor did she seem to enjoy it, often commenting that writing her books had been such hard work.

This is why the lack of Substack content is revealing imo. A lot of writers seem to be always writing, I've mentioned before that India Knight puts out a log of content on her Substack and clearly puts a lot of work into it. Dawn O'Porter I think pumped out a book during lockdown (obvs loads of writers did but that's a low brow example on a par with SH's content, although not having read any D O'P's stuff i may be dking her a disservice). There wasn't any increase in SH's output during lockdown (she did more IG lives tho) and she's mentioned a few times how difficult writing a book is - I can't think of another writer, for all her tales of dashing out a Vogue article on a her sunlounger in Greece or chucking together her freaky Friday monologue minutes before recording it, of another writer who makes writing sound like such a chore. I suspect she liked the idea of being a writer more than the actuality cos she just doesn't seem to do much of it, considering you don't need a commission any more to get your work out there. I suppose another possibility that's only just occurred to me is that, even though her Pool articles were pretty anodyne and uncontroversial, doing that kind of light opinion stuff on topical subjects, a mistep could lead to less ads with rusk adverse brands, even though that sort of twitter led cancellation thing seems to be largely over.

On this topic, I found in old screenshots one of SH's old twitter banners and her bio said something like "journo til I die". I'll dig it out later. It was something like that.

Here you are

Having a right old argy with some woman about "a red lip" and it's importance in saving the western world. Like a dig with a bone.View attachment 3236480 q

wtf is this?? Is there a Red Cross report on the importance of a red lip?! How did Jews get involved in this?!!? Oh our Sali ever so ridiculous, I’m absolutely dying at this exchange, I need to read the full back and forth.

I presume it's that story Sali used to trot out on a regular basis about a concentration camp being liberated. My memory is terrible but this is the gist - one of the first things the women asked for was a red lipstick.
I presume this exchange was someone disagreeing with Sali's simplistic interpretation of it. But then again 'ALL history is subjective'.

This is the story from an interview she did in 2015. Not what twitter exchange is about but looks like Sali repeated the story for International Women's Day.

This is absolutely bleeping offensive, to repackage a story like this (and I seriously question whether it's true anyway) in the service of personally profiting from consumerism and patriarchal oppression. She's taking a small observation from someone who though well meaning was probably quite sexist wasn't thinking how this detail would give a particular impression to readers.

I had a relative who was part of the first army group into a German concentration camp at the end of the war. He was absolutely traumatised and couldn't have anything about concentration camps in his house for the rest of his life. The only story he told his wife was that there was no grass or trees in the camp or outside the fence for a space as long as an arm, because these poor desperate people had eaten it all to try and stay alive. He also said the worst thing was that they took supplies, but even though the food was there, people couldn't eat it as their digestion was so damaged, and he felt helpless they continued to die even though liberated, and with food available. Now we know it as a refeeding process. All this to say, these women weren't just a bit thin and missing lippy, the situation was far more serious.

By Snippi's logic, parcel drops of red lipstick should be made into Gaza, because in dehumanising conditions, who doesn't need red lipstick? Her statement is so biased, albeist, sexist (why don't men wear lipstick Snippi? Why are its miraculous self care properties not avaliable to them?) and culturally specific, and yet she can't see that at all. She appears to genuinely think this is some sort of transcendent female universal story, which proves some baseline truth about us all.

I'm sure they both happily revel in the fact that Dan is punching a little bit (or at least they let the other one think it). KINDEST MAN SHE'S EVER KNOWN so there. And I have some thoughts about their relationship and the ankle bracelet, Sali seems to emulate the cool, late 70s mum esthetic a bit. Maybe a post for another time...or not. 🤢

Oh she totally believes he’s punching. She wrote an article for the Pool when they got engaged because for years she had been insisting she would never remarry. In the article she said something like “we’re each others favourite person, he likes small people and I like big noses”.

And when they got married Dan had posted a picture of them on Twitter. Someone replied “wow mate you’re punching” which was clearly just banter and something people say rather than a serious comment. Sali being Sali replied and launched into a tirade about how Dan made her laugh so much and was a great shag. Instead of just laughing it off

Where might one study a first person account of wearing lipstick. It sounds like a serious endeavour only for the fully qualified.
You first need a white coat, embroidered with your name, you must be wearing serious intellectual glasses*, and you must fervently believe no other middle-aged woman can work this out for herself, and that you are performing a public service akin to curing cancer.

Dunno, but once fully qualified (with an additional qualification in rocket science) you will also be permitted by She Here to access Pat McGrath eyeshadows (my apologies) shadow wardrobes.

For the rest of us plebs intimidated by eyeshadow (who also seemingly can’t be trusted to apply a red or any other lip without looking like Robert Smith), a £35 sheer nude lip balm.

I only have a BTEC in eyeshadow but with a strong personal statement and some 25 years experience with it on my CV i might be accepted on the accelerated access course for the masters 🤞
