Omg I came here to say the same, why oh why is Ben Parkes doing UTMB again? As has already been said, I don’t think he’ll stand a chance of completing it to be honest. And how has he qualified again? I didn’t think he’d done enough races to get enough points to qualify?

For the content.

He's becoming laughable now. Almost a parody of what not to do

I haven't seen Anya's cereal posts but I do like her and I do like how chaotic she is. She's pretty entertaining to watch. I did wonder why in her first week of Berlin marathon training she had zero rest days. Is that normal for a sub-elite (if that's what we're calling her?).

YES! I thought that too - no rest days at all?I know a ‘normal’ person plan would never advocate that and I’m sure she knows what she’s doing, but in the name of responsible posting I would have caveated the post with a ‘don’t try this at home kids!’ kind of thing - runners in particular can get quite obsessive and it doesn’t take much for people to start thinking ‘well, if it works for Anya, it could work for me’ and lead to all sorts of obsessive mileage/behaviour. If you’re gonna be an ‘influencer’ you need to be careful of what you post IMO.

It’s not just Anya, all these influencers, once they quit their day job and switch to full time influencers just loose any kind of relatability and become very annoying, trying the sell you on anything.
I understand it’s great to be able to have the time to do all your trainings and being gifted all the equipment, but it’s just not relatable anymore.

Also, lululemon as a brand is not that great either.

I can’t understand why Anya still won’t ditch Bester. I know a few people fairly high up in the sport and none of them think well of him at all. I reckon she’d do far better without him
I reckon it’s more a case of stringing him along to build her own brand and following and then like everyone Bester has on side, will eventually move on and they’ll fall out. Happened with Alex and she moved on, Amrit, Matt Fox and some others who have been and gone

I feel this also applies to Philly Bowden. Whilst immensely talented, she is cringe!

There's a lot of things wrong with social media but the ability to make a (very good if you do it right) living from it is definitely one of them. I just want to watch or look at people achieving and doing things I can't do, not sit through the 15th Squarespace ad in an hour or see the same sunglasses/leggings/gels as everyone else is shilling with the exact same script.

Yup, also Savannah Sachdev, I started following her about a month before she quit her full time job and it was really cool to see how she managed to do all her running and along with her daily work and everything and then bam, she’s on holidays every week and we’re watching her make crazy faces into camera and discussing cringe details about her relationship. Nobody need to know that, we’re here for the running.

Is it just me that gets irrationally irritated by the “runner mamas” who think and tell everyone how much harder everything is for them because they have kids? Planning runs, fitting things around kids etc. Like they’re some kind of hard done by but superior beings? People without children have other things in their lives too; absence of children doesn’t mean loads of free time and/or other commitments that need to be juggled. Boils. My. Piss.

Just one (of many) examples:

I just think the Philly and Anya cringe is also because they’re so young. And very immature in their behaviours. Anya was like this from the start. Not sure you’d get someone in their 30s or 40s doing reels and stories like they do. Both quite similar in their hyperactive in your face attitude. I also don’t find them relatable for that reason. I’m over 40, with kids, full time jobs, tired and quite wrinkly! Couldn’t be further from their life right now!

Did Philly ever finish her marathon stories?:sneaky:

How the hell did Ben Parkes get into UTMB again? He has done no qualifying races to justify it? Are those mugs at UTMB just allowing 'vloggers' free entry now to bypass the system? They didn't even let Killian bypass the points/stones system a few years ago.
I doubt it, as Jim Walmsley was forced to compete in a 100-miler in Croatia earlier this year to qualify for UTMB. Some goober with his name on a singlet won't get in on a freebie.

So back to the question: how has he qualified? There must be something we're missing? His UTMB index is here. Running stones (gained from competing in a UTMB-branded race) last 15 months. He doesn't meet the criteria?

Apparently he did a race last year that qualified as well as having a 100km index from stones. According to his Strava anyway…

yes, and I have children. Not only feel superior, they normally forget to mention the amount of help they have.

Runnermancbee is so disordered, one minute she is claiming her running and food relationship is super healthy and for London she ate, ran and socialised to her hearts content, the next she is claiming things have been bad for months and her period loss support this. She is then sharing lots of body check photos and frequent workouts.
