Like the crazy tourism? Or alphabet stuff?
Sometimes I feel like parkrun needs it’s own thread on here.
That and the virtue signalling run briefings that take too long. Or the ones that go over the top with ‘parkrun isms’.

I remember a particularly awful one in my hometown (when I was visiting as I don’t live there now) where they were so bloody patronising towards a blind runner and their guide. It made me feel deeply uncomfortable and it was unnecessary.

Sorry if stupid question but what's this DN podcast and what crap goes on?
Over the top tourism, first events (although I think that has got better from what I hear), run briefings that take half an hour, placing over importance on the fact they had volunteered loads and generally treating it like a religion.

The podcast was the original parkrun one, The parkrun show I think. The newer one is With Me Now.

I know I sound like a right grumpy witch, but I did actually really enjoy the original podcast. It was more the behaviour of people who listened to it, desperate to get a mention or be on it. I went to too many events where it felt like people were copying the things they heard rather than being genuine.

DN has always come across as someone with real love for something he was involved with from near the beginning. He just created something that attracted the obsessives.

I was going to the parkrun to see some friends as I normally run alone. But since I moved, I don’t know anybody, I can maybe do 3 parkruns a year, and it feels so weird and no welcoming at all.
Never understood tourism without being on holidays there, or any of the challenges

The parkrun tourist pages are wild.
I made a comment that i PERSONALLY was not comfortable with the idea of same day return flights to just do a parkrun in Poland, the amount of absolutely vile abuse (all from middle aged men) that i received was insane.
Someone recently was (I think in good faith) talking about the idea of carbon offsetting their tourism and some of the replies they got were foul. Carbon offsetting is not the answer, but that demographic seem to love any opportunity to be rude to someone. I couldn't justify a flight to do parkrun either, frankly.

I have to admit, I have to hold my tongue when someone asks 'where is X' or 'how much to park at X' JUST bleeping GOOGLE IT.

Honestly there are some insanely self centered idiots on there.

I'm surprised Anna went for a dress fitting without even a venue booked, what's the likelihood she will end up pregnant by the end of the year and make some smug comments about fitting in the same dress she did pre-pregnancy. Hopefully the bridal shop give her some decent fashion advice as otherwise you will look like the mother of the bride next to Kyle
