It also never fails to be funny that Ruby keeps insisting that she's OBSASSED with RESAAARCHING things and has been embarking on a grand journey of SALF-LAHRRRNING, yet never seems to learn a single thing and her go-to excuse for not knowing basic words or mispronouncing every name she ever encounters is that THEY DIDN'T TEACH HAHHHR THAT IN SCHYOOL!

A 30 second Google search when coming across unfamiliar names or words would solve almost all these problems, but she's simply too lazy and/or assumes she's always right.

And this dumbass has been being paid to make videos online for nearly a decade, yet still hasn't figured out how (or can't be bothered) to mirror-flip videos she uploads, so we get her HOIGHLY RACKOMMANDING books and holding the cover up on TikTok like:

I think it just speaks to how uninterested she is in society and culture. Goethe is such a huge figure that almost everyone (almost, clearly not Ruby) academically inclined and higher educated in the Western world will have come across Goethe as an influence, either by having read about him or having heard him mentioned on the radio or on television or a podcast, etc. To be 25 with a Masters degree in lichacha from Oxford University and having never heard the name Goethe out loud........... it just blows my mind.

She doesn't even have to go very far to hear an accurate pronunciation of Goethe. She goes on and on as to how much she is a fan of Little Women and how she took her trip to Concord, MA, last year. In the 1994 version of Little Women, starring Winona Ryder (Jo), Jo refers to Goethe while talking with Professor Bhaer. In fact, his character was highly inspired by Alcott's love of Goethe. If Ruby actually watched more movies, spent time going out of her comfort zone and expanding her reading material, rather than rereading the same things, over and over again, she would have easily stumbled on Goethe naturally. Is she seriously ignorant of Faust? She really is dumb-witted for someone her age and with her degrees.

Even so, let's say she has never heard the name out loud, Google has a text to speech tool to learn to pronounce words. If I was doing YouTube videos I would be checking pronunciation of difficult words and especially NAMES so that I then do not get a comment section full of corrections.

I wish she would check the pronunciation of percent, Evelyn Waugh, Goethe, Poirot... i still can't get over her saying 'pie-rott', in the past.
 
I’m wheezing - one of my favourite channels, Tasting History with Max Miller, just uploaded a video on how he made real Victorian sugar plums. The process took him three days and this is how they look:

She is working at Piper's Corner, the school she went to and was bullied at. Part time as an Assistant Librarian. They have several. The library is very small. Children's books. Of course. She is listed on their staff page:
