Of course she is having a difficult time. Everything changes, how she parents, the supports they need to access. She is a great mum and will be fine. The kids are well loved and cared for
I mean that she was so aware of being judged for her kids using a tablet that she’ll have to grow a thicker skin

i mean she was so aware of people judging her so letting the kids use an iPad in the restaurant she’ll have to grow a thicker skin as people will stare if your autistic kid stims or has a meltdown . Seeing how sensitive she is to people judging. Also she doesn’t mention it online , I’ve only seen her say something once which would imply a bit of head in the sand

Completely agree.

Also - who are these people who stare at literal children (autistic or not) having a meltdown? How can anyone be that judgemental to a CHILD.

Vile.

See I wouldn't think of that as being "judgemental to a child" more of a "this doesn't fit my situation and its annoying for me" type of look.

Because if I was out for a meal and there was a screaming child near me that was not being removed you can be damn sure I'd be throwing a "read the room" side eye. I get it, kids get fussy but if it's going on for more than 5 minutes I get very annoyed. I'd do the same for kids running around, someone coughing openly, blowing their nose loudly etc. There's ways to behave in public and child or not, disrupting others in the space is not it.

1000% agree. Not everyone thinks kids and screaming is cute

Transparent while also comparing herself to Doireann Garrihy 😂 She even said herself re the podcast that listenership drops if they take a break. Then here’s something radical, don’t take a break from it! She is transparent only when it suits her. I don’t read her substack so I have no idea how detailed it is but unless it includes income as well as sending then it is not useful. Transparent and honest are not the same thing.

To be fair, gasp, she can’t do a thing different at the moment due to her visa. However, she has to work harder. The podcast is such a hard listen. It is aimless, less relevant to Irish listeners and does absolutely nothing to fill in the gaps. Im not sure what a HOA is and yet it was discussed at length today and the HB ad is infuriating.
YOU ARE IN AMERICA!!

If she feels so strongly about what she's been paid and how little journalists get paid in general. Very simple solution, Upskill and move into a different field!! Some will argue easy said than done, well if that's the life she's choosing put up and shut up or do something about it!!!

My god is there anything she doesn't give out about!

I don’t think she can. She mentioned something before about how “she always knew she should be a writer”. The likely answer being an allergy to work and being accountable.

She didn't compare herself to Doireann. She said how much she got for her gig at Cheltenham. I found it really interesting to hear how little she is paid for an article.

She is passionate about writing so she isn't going to, nor should she.

Yes, an extremely large dig at her. Im sure Rosemary is paid no less than any other writer. She is not a journalist. She devalues her work so much by not putting things in place that allow her to do more eg childcare, sort out the podcast, clean up her socials. I still can’t believe she did no interviews in Ireland for the book. To be honest I don’t see where she can go from where she is right now and to be honest, the real financial conversations that should be happening are within marriages especially once kids arrive.

I don’t think she was calling out Doireann? She’s just saying if you are a small influencer you get X much and if you have a big following like Doireann you could get this much, we don’t know how much big influencers get usually but it’s public knowledge how much D got for the racing. But also was the Guardian piece not about her book ? Surely getting paid anybit and having effectively heavily discounted advertising in the Guardian is good ?!

How can anyone be that judgemental to a CHILD.

People don't judge the child. They judge the parent - and assume its bad parenting.
And yes, it is vile.

My children are autistic. I've experienced it.

Getting an autism diagnosis for your child isn't the end of the world, but it is life changing. Your entire idea of the life you thought they would have changes. You spend your days advocating for them and fighting for better services. You encounter ignorant people who ask ignorant questions. You also have to deal with the 'there was no such thing as autism in my day' brigade.
Everything you knew about parenting and how to handle your child can become irrelevant as ND children don't necessarily respond to the same rewards/ threats/ rules as NT children. It is a lot to wrap your head around.
---
I said she will likely be diagnosed with ADHD as an attempt for her to remain relevant, not as a slur against those with ADHD. Don’t tell me how to describe myself and my son thanks.

If you or your son 'have autism' - you will know that getting a diagnosis for a neurodivergence is not a simple process. You don't just show up and ask 'Please can I have one ADHD diagnosis, thank you' and get handed it on a platter 'to stay relevant'.
You need medical records, to complete a full history, an intense one to one with a psychiatrist, supporting letters from family/ teachers/ employers. You need to demonstrate that this condition has impacted on your life from before the age of 12.
Going the private route costs in excess of £1000 - I can't imagine there are many people with £1000 to spare just to stay relevant.

If her son is autistic, there is a fair chance she is too or has some ND. As you'll know from your and your son's diagnoses - neurodivergence is genetic.
A lot of parents don't realise they are ND (because their life has always been this way) until their children are diagnosed and all the pieces slot into place.
