Friends star Matthew Perry dies of apparent drowning at 54

The actor launched to fame as Chandler Bing on the sitcom Friends, which ran for 10 seasons until 2004. A law enforcement source said no apparent foul play was involved in his death.

This is just sad and tragic. After the years of addiction, the psychological struggles stemming from Matthew's parents divorce, etc. and finally getting his tit together, it doesn't seem fair. This wasn't the ending anyone was hoping for him.

I know it may sound silly but I genuinely feel I have lost a friend. That show has been there for me through so many times in my life and Chandler was absolutely my favourite character, it saddens me knowing he had brought so much joy to so many people whilst not receiving that himself. Matthew has had so many struggles and it’s heartbreaking that this is how it’s ended for him Rest easy our funny guy x

Im very sad about matt’s death.

im such a friends fan and have watched it through all phases of my life, whether i have been happy or sad. Started watching it when i was 13 and now 36 and still watch it.

I did my usual check of Facebook this morning and saw someone update their status (who does that, in this day and age?!) saying he died, but didn’t believe it.
I checked the Sky News page, and there it is
Very sad news to wake up to. I was never a huge Friends fan, but grew up watching it on a Friday night on Channel 4. Chandler was always my favourite character, and I loved the London episodes when Chandler and Monica first got together, and the ones that followed.
Very eery, as just a few days ago he posted on his Instagram in a pool and other posts about water.
I know he had his struggles, but it’s people like him that I admire the most. I’m so sad, though maybe not surprised that this has happened.
RIP Matthew Perry - be at peace.

This is of those headlines I’ve had to read multiples times to wrap my head around what I’ve read. I assumed it was a social media hoax when I first saw it.

His life was filled with so many issues but he brought so many people joy and I hope moments like the Friends reunion helped him see how much love there was for him out there. What a sad ending for a man who battled through so much. RIP Matthew and thank you

I’m absolutely gutted. I grew up with friends, like most people my age. And although I think it aged awfully and isn’t really funny any more, it’s still been such a big part of my life and I only ever hoped the best for him. Poor Matthew.

Im so sad. I love him in the show. Its weird but he portrayed Chandler as such a normal and real person.. So sad he had so many struggles.
