I was on the jury for this trial for the last 6 weeks and went to the sentencing today for the 45 year old. Watching the CCTV evidence repeatedly for this long has weighed heavily on all of us and will continue to be on my mind for many more weeks/months to come. Listening to the families' victim statements today was the most painful thing I have endured - I can't even begin to imagine what they must be feeling.

I hope the loved ones of Max and Mason are able to find some closure as this case draws to a close, and start to heal. The children involved will be sentenced next month.

How have I not heard of this?? Those poor boys. Have you been offered any support post trial?

Yes! There's a special free Jury therapy service available which gives you 6 sessions. I'm not ready to reach out to them yet - I think we're all still processing the vast amount of information that we had to take on, but maybe once the young defendants have been sentenced it will finally feel "done". You can read some snippets from the victim statements here, it was a really sombre day.
 
What’s heartbreaking about this trial is that unlike a lot of recent cases, Max and Mason really were good lads from nice homes. Their mums thought they were in bed and they’d sneaked out to get a pizza, which at 16 is hardly a heinous crime. It’s the sort of thing I could imagine mine would have done at that age.

What the hell a grown man was doing driving a gang of teenage thugs carrying weapons around defies belief. I’m glad the judge used the full power of her sentencing ability. @peachesandcreamz sorry you had to go through that, it must have been horrendous.

I know jury duty isn't really a choice but thank you. It sounds a hideous trial to be on.
 
Another girlfriend killed by her boyfriend, it’s confirmed it was Ewan/her boyfriend who’s the male

It's odd that the judge didn't think he thought the murderers were going to kill the boys with their knives. What did he think they were going to do, cut their toenails? It's like someone kicking someone in the head and "not intending to kill them". Of course you are, or you'd aim for their bum.

This is very local to me, it's an awful junction at the best of times. Obviously everyone on the local FB group had something to say about it as they always do, but given the time and location there hopefully is alot of witnesses and/dashcam footage to support the investigation. Dreadfully sad for the family, I believe there is a surviving husband and older child.
