Am I being awful, or is this reading as “she’s had a hard enough life, let’s not punish her any more!”

I’ve not seen the full footage (none of us have). But surely if the full footage that the jury saw indicated that she pushed the lady into the traffic, she should face the consequences.

She might have a harder time in prison because people are awful, but that doesn’t mean she deserves less time in prison compared to people who have committed lesser crimes.

Exactly this. We have very little idea about the actual circumstances of the incident or the evidence which was presented. All we know for sure is that a person ended up dead due to actions carried out by this person. Her anonymous close friend presents her as a living saint and professional victim. Her anonymous close friend quite frankly has a dog in the fight. She now has a surfeit of time to launch an appeal if she or her legal representative feel the sentence was inappropriate.

RIP Ms Ward.

Why did it take so long? Surely everyone has iPhones/smartphones these days? Or is coverage really bad in the area?

Maybe the people who survived the accident were in no fit state to use a phone?

It’s so hard to believe that a car full of people can crash and not be found for over 24 hours. No one heard anything, saw anything, or drove past and noticed anything? Apparently it was on an A road near a busy roundabout and a garden centre 😳

Presumably lots of people saw the car and presumed it was stolen and dumped?

It’s shocking that no one raised the alarm.

I didn’t mean they should have called for help. Only that most people could be tracked via find my phone etc.

There was a case of a woman, that featured on a TV series called Disappeared, who wasn't found for eight days after a car crash off a highway. She was alive though but down a steep ravine. Her name is Tanya Rider. The police thought her husband had murdered her as there was literally no trace.

Season 2, episode 4 - No Exit.

Yes,see that couple of times, her poor husband put through the mill wasn’t he.?

Ngl I never really find it shocking when bodies don’t turn up for a while. I’ve mentioned before on here but a young lad went missing near where I used to live and his body wasn’t found until 3 months after he’d died despite several searches being carried out. He was eventually found very close to his home but because of the strange position the body was in, it took a while for him to be found.
I’d been walking past him everyday, literally within 50m of the body and never even noticed a thing.

These people were missing for less than 48 hours, I don’t think it’s that strange that they weren’t found sooner.

I was coming to post this one too.
Absolutely horrible story from Bradford 😔
I think the defence solicitor might be Frankie Smith’s from the Star Hobson case? Zafar Ali QC/KC
and is the Brad one of the reporters who gave daily updates from that case too?

I didn't follow Star's trial so I'm not sure.

But I like Brad Deas. He's detailed, although this case has a very complex family dynamic and I'm finding myself getting lost. But I feel like we're learning on the job with him the way he explains things (the way court works) It's very endearing.
