Seeing Mel and her mum so chilled made me want them to win, that would have been a hilarious finish. But then I saw the ground was wet for them but dry for the others so realised they were probably last.

Harry’s reaction to the monkfish made me laugh. Tbh I felt the same 😂

At the end after B&B left I wasn’t sure who I wanted to win but seeing Alex and his Dad have fun along the way it made me want them to win. As they didn’t compromise what they wanted for the race. I know Harry/Mum also saw what she wanted to but I think that wasn’t as planned as they just went that route and ended up somewhere to see the fjords? Whereas Alex/Dad specifically went to a certain place and did a job and experience seeming to have the most fun. Considering how much they spent Mel/mum didn’t see to have as many experiences as the other teams?
I’m surprised Alex/dad ended with €300.
Tbh I think it was obvious they were going to win when on the bus with Harry/mum as there was no doubt they’d win in a foot race, the only hope for Harry was they’d take the wrong route or have no money for cable cars. I missed how much the cable cars were but I was wondering how Mel/mum were able to get up but I think they had just over €20 before the taxi so maybe we’re just able to get the tickets (missed how much the tickets were)

I enjoyed that. After Billy and Bonnie, I did then want Harry and Emma to win but Alex and his dad did really well. Harry and Emma were funny moving forward on the bus. I'd be so up for xmas markets in European cities now if I could. Its all the amazing lights and views!
We used to go to them every Christmas, stayed a few days and usually visited 3. The 1 at Auchen is near the Lindt Choc factory which is a bonus. :D

I thought it was going to be like in series 1 when one pair couldn't afford the lift up to the observation deck of the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. The cable car is around £14pp at night, much cheaper than I thought. But I don't think they had to pay for it.

I can imagine Mel and Helene getting a luxury cruise back home.

When they stop at the checkpoints, surely they don't have to share rooms then too?

It's been a great series. I'd be open to more celeb versions as long as it stuck to family/ non-famous friends not 2 celebs pairings.

What a fantasic series, probably one of the only shows where i have enjoyed the "celeb" version more than the regular series.. So wanted harry and his mum to win (with Mel and helene in close second) but the last episode was such feel good tv that i pretty much forgot about the race and was just made up to see them having such unforgettable experiences with loved ones. Defo one to bring back BBC (y)

Yeah mixed feelings here over the winners but it was a good series over all.

Can't wait to see what the next series is about....Asia would be good I think. Vietnam, Laos, Thailand etc. I would say China but they can be funny with filming etc from past travel programs I've watched. Or maybe India? I was going to say Australia but I think that would be like Canada...just the one mode of transport to places etc.

Was it said what the time difference was between Mel and Helene and the other teams in the end? It looked like 2 different nights to me as the road was dry when Alex and Harry went up but wet when Mel did.

I reckon Alex and Noel must have been a bit further ahead than Harry and Emma, if they hadn't left for Narvik when they did, H&E wouldn't have had such a close run

India would be great. They haven’t had to rough it properly for the last couple of series.

I think it would of been good if they showed at the end how much budget each couple had left and the time difference between the teams. They never said or showed in the book what time mel and her mum arrived. It would of been intresting to know how late after the other two teams they arrived.

I really hate that they never tell you how far apart the teams were at the end, especially when it's clearly been initially edited to make people look closer or further apart than they are to keep the drama (totally get this bit, not criticising that) so it's hard to work it out.

Loved this series! So gutted that Billy and Bonnie had to drop out!
After them the one I wanted to win was Alex's dad, not so much Alex but they come as a team! So glad they did it. His dad seems like such a nice man, even crying when B&B had to drop out!
It ended in the right order I think. Never warmed to Harry and his mum, she moaned too much and he also seemed so inconsiderate towards her and cranky!
Mel and her mum, a bit bland

I thought they had to stay so many days at the check point. Is it full days? As I’m sure apart from B&B they all arrived at night (9pm onwards) but this leg they all seemed to leave in the day time?

I love this programme - travelling the world and seeing amazing places vicariously!
But I wish they would be a bit more precise with details sometimes eg have more timestamps shown throughout the programme, as sometimes it seems a team is miles behind but all of a sudden they all turn up at roughly the same time. I guess that is to keep the element of surprise at who signs the book first though?
But this series definitely showed some places I'd like to go now.

I thought the time difference between Alex and Harry was shown when Harry signed in?
