I haven’t done popsy but I was in the babipur group for a while. These ‘fans of certain shops’ groups definitely encourage more spending, I know I spent more at babipur because I was in the FB group! It’s very clever insidious marketing. I realised how stupid it was after a while- a company who allegedly cares about the environment encouraging mass consumerism!! My children have loads of second hand toys and clothes which I’m sure is more eco friendly than buying everything new even if it is wooden/fair trade.

I agree it’s an interesting research project. Maybe it’s cos we’re all desperate for community in 21st century Britain…. They probably specifically attract mums because mums are lonely and often feel a loss of identity so cling to stuff like cloth nappies/scandi clothes etc etc

This is exactly what it is in my opinion. The same for football supporters too.
It's like it's replaced religion/attending church.

I think as well it’s a community of outsiders- people who like slightly quirky things. Not everyone’s into like designer fashion and Love Island and it’s a good place to chat to those who prefer a rainbow or book dress for a bit of childish fun and a book and cup of tea. It’s not just about the dresses

I wouldn’t really call book or rainbow dresses quirky.

I love this thread! I joined the Facebook group just to be nosy as I heard on here that the over sharing lucylocket lady was there. She is and still oversharing. Her sons medical issues are really not something to share to the extent she does. The amount of pictures too! daily posts are excessive to say the least.
It is definitely as cult like as the locket page was…

I'd forgotten about the car crash that was the LLL group.

Is this the lady who uses the group like a diary and posts what she does every day and her son too? With photos. So odd, I just think she must be lonely and sad and filling a void?

thats the one! She’s married and seems to have a social life, it was exactly the same on the locket group, she posted so many photos at a time! When the locket group closed she moved to this one.

I never understood why you got these types in places like clothing and weight loss groups. There are plenty of mental health support groups on Facebook, plenty of places to talk about specific conditions. Why annoy people who just want to look at dresses?

I was never in the LLL group, what happened to it so it got shut down?
It became really cult like and there was a backlash when the quality went down, this was a couple of years ago now.

I think it’s for the attention, it’s massively oversharing though. Sometimes there is 20 pictures in a post, she repeats the same things all the time as well.
