Yes I liked Scandi and other colourful clothes like Little Bird when my kids were little but some people took it to another level. They'd get proper obsessive over getting discontinued styles in other sizes for when kids outgrew them or for siblings to match. Also acting like it was the end of the world when their kids aged out of the clothes cos they didn't like anything else. Internet cults over things fascinate me, I reckon it'd be a great dissertation/thesis idea for anyone in social sciences.
Haha I’ve thought that their needs to be some sort of research into these groups and why some people get so obsessed

That is nuts! Someone has gone through all the groups and removed you?
Yup. It really isn't normal. They must have different admins for each.
I removed myself from popsy and friends (really not healthy). I've been blocked from education staff (which is a shame tbh because I used to see suggestions for resources etc, but hey there's twitter!) And the pre loved selling group 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yup. I've been blacklisted from every popsy group now. 🤔 A loyal cult member that messaged me (and her family members) that didn't like a comment I'd made on group and tried to change my opinion. I never initiated ANY chat and didn't reply except initially to say we'd never agree. It's fricking bizarre.
Can't sell the few dresses I had now for the price I paid. 🤣🫣

Can you put them on Vinted? They seem to still fetch high prices on there.

The scandi kids clothing trend makes me laugh because lots of it just looks faded and old. I’m guessing it’s supposed to come across as middle class and frugal, but if I’m buying a £30 sweatshirt for my kid I don’t want it to look like something from the nursery’s spares cupboard. I feel like there’s some inverse snobbery behind that look.

I’m just look at the “HQ” posts. You would think they’d gone to see a celebrity, getting photos of themselves with all the members of staff. One said she had yelled to a staff member outside and then hugged her, despite not knowing them. If someone one came in to my workplace, yelled my name and then hugged me, I’d probably report them as a stalker!

I’d forgotten about Little Bird! I bought a few things for my kids when they were little but it was nothing special in terms of quality, and they trashed everything they wore anyway, so I could barely justify the price. Someone I knew was REALLY into it and was gutted when her boys got too old for the range. She used to dress them in bright colourful leggings too. Now they only wear football kits 😅

Totally agree that internet cults, specifically consumerist internet cults, even more specifically consumerist cults that women/mothers go mad for, are so interesting.

I always figured that there was a cloth nappy fanatic to Scandi kids clothes fanatic pipeline.

It was the one who said she “broke down” for me

I can’t believe how personal some of the “NPR” posts are given its Facebook and it obviously gives your real name. I’ve just searched for something and it came up with a post about someone talking about their ex and the very detailed dreams she’s having about him 😳. I’ve seen posts about their daughters starting their periods and details of kids medical conditions etc. I know most people don’t have bad intent but seriously it only takes one to slip through the net.

Them making holy shows of themselves is one thing but I hope they get sued down the line for posting personal private information about their family members, in particular their children.

Going off topic a bit now but I got banned from the Babipur group for posting a couple of times about them encouraging over consumption when they're an eco friendly company allegedly lol
Sorry for the derailing. Babipur FB is another one of the groups that I follow with morbid fascination . The owners irritate me with their self righteousness when the whole existence of their business is people buying more stuff, they have their fair share of obsessive followers too

Babipur act like a small operation but their turnover is massive!

I'm going to have to look at it now, anything in particular I need to be aware of, weird names for underwear for example?

I’m surprised Popsy haven’t tried a subscription service. I get loads of ads for overpriced services like that - for example one for an underwear subscription where you pay £40 for a monthly bra and knickers set! Or bloody Fabletics where you pay a fortune for tit leggings. Just think, she could get monthly cash and send out any old rubbish dresses and they’d be happy.

I'm constantly amazed by what people are willing to divulge on FB groups, and not small groups and/or anonymously either. Only takes one person to screenshot and share elsewhere!
Although babipur/Scandi clothes/cloth nappies/similar aren't strictly on the topic of popsy I'd argue the mentality the obsessiveness they invoke in a segment of their fans and the way the owners endear themselves and become a huge part of the brand is quite similar. Not to mention the exploitation of vulnerable people...

I just looked at the profits for Popsy on gov site. Eye popping. It is no way a small business.

Interesting to see this thread, I hadn’t heard of Popsy but recently had seen some stuff shared by a friend on FB - Dresses and leggings are my uniform since having a baby so I looked on the website. The dresses do not look like they’re very good quality though?!

The link to the FB group was on the site and I love FB group drama so I am now a member 😆
