Owen Jones is a deeply unpleasant man, who I dislike for many reasons.

Just ready this op-ed of his about the new Netflix show ‘heartstopper’ which he describes as ‘dazzlingly brilliant’ and ‘one of the most important LBGTQ+ shows ever made’.

I watched the first few episodes based on this and was flabbergasted - which show director is he sleeping with to write such guff? The acting is shocking, the storylines twee and it’s blatantly ripped of sex educations ‘vintage look set in the present day’ aesthetic.

I mean, not that I set much store by any of his opinions previously …

...yeah, sad isn't it. In the old days all these disturbed people (and trust me, some of them really are) would have been locked-up in 'secure hospitals', now they appear on daytime or late night tv shows giving 'their opinion'. Ironically, it's only people who ARE actually in secure mental facilities who take any real notice of them. haha. What a sad old world we live in.

I hate to say it but I agree with Owen here, it’s pretty obvious the perpetrator didn’t just happen across a gay night club by chance and I’m not sure why the other two people are so reluctant to label it a hate crime. Islamic teaching generally states that homosexuality is a sin but that’s an awkward truth that they clearly don’t want to acknowledge . He shouldn’t have thrown his toys out of the pram but he’s right in what he is saying

Yep. Especially Lesbians. If you go and look at the tweet that started this thread, there is a post saying in Spain a (straight) man went to a gay club and ‘the prettiest girls in the city were there’ and they go there so they’re not hassled by straight men.

Jones says he calls out homophobia wherever he finds it but he ignored that homophobic post. It’s blatantly obvious the reason those ‘pretty girls’ were in that club is because THEY are , y’know, gay. But the tweeter seems to think just because they are ‘pretty girls’ that obvious reason can be discounted and they must be straight girls hiding from men. Because of course LESBIANS ARE NEVER ‘PRETTY GIRLS’.

Jones interacts with plenty of others on that thread but ignores that blatantly homophobia. twit.
