I just feel like an awful parent.. my nearly 2 year old is feral she won’t walk with me she wants to run and be free she won’t sit in the pram she climbs everything she’s ate half my Christmas tree… please tell me this gets easier
Not the Christmas tree! 🥲 I think that all sounds completely normal, you’re not an awful parent!

We had a good night last night. Still up from 2-5 but would actually settle in the next to me for a little bit without crying. I think giving infacol in her night time feeds has really helped her settle a bit more with her wind at night

I love infacol! We’ve been using it religiously for the last few weeks

This time of night I dread, me and my husband argue and baby just isn’t sleeping 🥲

Would be the same here in the early days. People say and do strange things when sleep deprived. Talk to each other during the day and make sure that you both know that whatever is said in the thick of sleep deprivation or in the middle of the night is not really meant. Me and my husband used to try take the stance of ‘it’s us vs the baby’ rather than me vs him 😅

How did he get on?

He had a great day apparently. One mum came to pick up her child and commented on how smiley and happy he was and she was so shocked when the staff told her it was his first day! He had a little wobble with his nap but he settled himself, other than that he loved it ❤️ I, on the other hand, stress cleaned my entire house by 10am and then spent the day sitting about not knowing what to do with myself 🥺

We’ve recently transitioned to arms out sleeping from love to dream swaddle bags. It’s going well but the last couple of nights my baby has been thrashing his legs about and is so active from about 3am. I can settle by rocking the next to me/putting my hand on him but I’m knackered and was doing this on and off until he got up for the day at 5:30. Before this he was sleeping through. Is this just another phase?! 😭

Our baby does this every night usually after her 3am feed til morning basically. She’ll kick her blankets off her and when we tried a swaddle bag she didn’t like the restriction. According to google it’s normal and it’s their way of moving around to encourage digestion 😖 I’ve also seen that it’s just considered “active sleep” and that she’s probably a light sleeper. I feel you, we are hardly sleeping!! She has never slept through though.. she’s 6.5 weeks so hoping that’ll come with time. How old is yours?

ours is also grunting and making all sorts of noises which again I think is just normal..!

Baby girl has suddenly started spitting up again after not doing it since leaving the hospital. Spat up all over my shoulder after a big burp 🫠 between this and the sleepless nights I’m done 😂

At nearly 10 months I can confirm everything is just a phase and I promise that will stop! How old is your LO? If you’re transitioning them out of a swaddle I guess around 3/4 months which is when they typically start having sleep cycles like we do as adults so it might be they’re getting used to this new way of sleeping. They’ll work it out eventually! Not ideal when you’re on the thick of it though I know. Baby’s melatonin levels drop off after midnight and cortisol the stress hormone rises which is why they usually have more wake ups after midnight if they’re going through a bit of their development where they need more support. I also found when baby Lava started trying to roll he woke up more because he was practicing in his sleep and it stopped when he mastered that skill.

I also used to sleep holding baby Lavas hand in the next to me and that used to sometimes help as he’d resettle himself without waking me.

@LavaFlake @Greencatfysh he’s nearly 5 months. I put off transitioning out of the bags for ages as he slept so well and then out of nowhere he started rolling so I had no choice! I think that makes a lot of sense about his development. He is suddenly doing SO much more and is a delight in the days, I just feel like a zombie today!

Oh I remember the early days grunting at night well, mine sounded like a farmyard animal and I couldn’t believe how disruptive it was and that he was asleep while doing it 😂 I think it’s called infant dyschezia (spelling is probably off here) but basically infant grunting syndrome and it does stop when their digestive system matures - nobody warned me about it though hahaha!

Oh god I’d blocked out the grunting 🤣🤣 now mine sleeps SO silently that I wake up in a panic multiple times a night and have to feel his belly going up and down 😭

When does it stop please 🤣

Never watched so much daytime tv but sat here cuddling baby watching the news when there’s the hit and run and a 2 year old died, and parents murdering their children just gets to me now. I can’t get my head around it 😭😭😭😭

Good to know others have had it too! We were convinced she has some kind of digestive disorder and my husband bless him cannot sleep through it.. I’ve managed to block it out. Hoping she grows out of it soon 😴😴😴
