Going against the grain (see what I did there 🤣) but I am fed up my with local tradesman not turning up. Some of the replies on mumsnet that imply it’s the customers fault and no tradesman ever does anything wrong- I want to dramatically run on to the thread and shout about victim blaming. Then I remember it’s just about plumbers messing people around.

I do tea, biscuits, pay on return, don’t interfere, don’t try and knock quotes down but I still get Terry the tosser telling me his gran is ill/van broken/ nothing at all and not turning up.
We had a bit of a problem getting an electrician in recently but he was only a few days out. He was efficient but went a bit too far in explanations about the technical side (I am not an electrician!) so I had to nod along and try to understand the basic gist

I recall years ago on the MSE forum a poster made up this story of a car crashing into her front garden and the police and ambulance were there. Said how horrific it was and then the driver sadly died in her garden! Another poster knew roughly where she lived so checked the local news. Nothing was reported. She made the whole thing up. 😮
Why? Are they that desperate for attention? Sad really.

You know when you get those threads where you think how is this still going on…. well has anyone caught the one about the woman who quit her job and didn’t realise she had to pay back hours that she had taken for holiday but hadn’t accrued?

To be fair I think she started this in a bit of shock so didn’t help herself with her replies but over 600 posts later, 65 from the OP, it has turned into one of those crazy threads where you think WTAF!
I used to do payroll and it wasn’t unusual for people to be surprised they had to reimburse holidays taken but not accrued. I have known people hand in their resignation early in the year and expect to be paid for a full year’s holiday entitlement.

Another ‘I should report them’ thread
These women are insane

If clurr has a perforated stomach surely the op would refer to peritonitis? And has she got sepsis is that one of her ailments?

Report them for what? And to who?!

‘I know there are people out there getting stabbed and murdered Officer, but my parents trespassed on someone’s land and got sworn at. Please arrest the farmer forthwith’

My plumber gave me a rankings of importance last year. Electricians are at the top apparently and so they never have to clear up after themselves on a multi trade job. It was quite funny, plasterers he said are second, tilers third.

She's "at a work conference today so a bit smarter than jeans". Jesus... sorry, I'm sure she's lovely, but that is not a smart look.
That’s trendy london vicar garb.

Do you know what I’m sick of seeing? ‘What colour are my eyes?’ threads. Not only do I not care, just look in the bleeping mirror, you twonk, or at that photo you’ve just posted. I’m going to assume you actually have eyes seeing as you’ve just posted a photo of them so USE THEM. They’re either blue, green or brown, it’s not like they can be purple with an hint of orange. And the threads spawn. They die down, then someone posts one and another 6 appear.

Very pleased to see mycake is back
This was the thread where the OP way back in December said her husband was probably terminally Ill and waiting for test results. He’ll be dead by Christmas and the OP said he smelt like he was dying.
In the ensuing months she’s slagged off doctors and hospitals and cried and not coped but managed to blow smoke upper own arse and say how emotionally strong she always is 🙄
Well he’s still alive and the upshot is he’s probably coeliac
We’ve had an update and she’s now mentioning HIV

Imagine you’re sicker that you’ve ever been in your life, having hundred of tests and your wife is on Mumsnet posting to strangers about how you “smell like you’re dying”

I’m sure it’s all fake but if it’s not…..these witches ain’t normal 😂

When I have tradesmen I ask them the most important question when they arrive.
Tea or coffee? And how often?
Happy tradesmen do a better job.

I had a guy tiling here a couple of years ago. He told me that one place he went, to do a quote, he was told straightaway that there would be no question of him being allowed to boil the kettle for a cuppa. Not allowed. He didn't bother taking the job.

Most tradesmen have loads of work around here. They can pick and choose.

I wasn't here for various bits of work that I got done, but I always left the kettle, mugs, tea and so on set up, so it's obvious that they can help themselves.

They never ate my crisps either. 🤣
