Can I just ask, do the twins actually have any toys?? There’s constant pictures of super lovely, not really toys, dolls and ornaments for the bedroom, but my 3yr old has stuff everywhere 😂 We’ve got a pram, OG dolls tent up, dolls, Barbies etc etc and yet the twins just seem to have the stuff their Mum has *bought* that’s lovely, but not really 3yr old favourites 🤷🏻‍♀️ Not knocking the actual toys as such as I’d prefer my daughter had more sustainable toys, but she favours plastic/make a noise/irritating as tit stuff at the moment (she’s currently re-dressing her fashion doll with outfits that would make a hooker blush) 🤦🏻‍♀️

To be fair my girl is slightly younger than their twins and doesn’t have any plastic toys other than duplo- I wanted to try to have open ended/sustainable toys that she wouldn’t go through fads with. On the face of it they probably look really boring but she has hours of play :)

Saying that I’m sure the twins probably have a load of gear which is swept into a cupboard when it’s mummy and daddy’s picture time 🙈

I agree, I think messy toys aren’t very Gramable so they probably go away for the snaps.

I’ve had to sit down... they were out SHOPPING today?! That means MOD may have spent her own money on something... that is unless #visitcanterbury #discountedvisit pops up any minute 🙈

Those responses are amusing. Just proves how truly dim and unaware the fan girls are. Like I said, those same girls who dotted their i's with ickle hearts at school, and we're gently encouraged to do a childcare course, rather than actual academic subjects.

Oops, don't know why it posted twice? Or substituted were for we're?

Wow such intellectual snobbery here! Childcare is an amazing profession and not for the faint hearted. I could never do it. I speak as someone who did “actual academic subjects” myself and work in finance. I imagine someone who works in childcare will get much more job satisfaction than me and is making a far greater contribution to society.
Anyway back on topic ...

❤️
We also trust our most prized possessions in childcare. My daughter in law works in a nursery and gets paid very little but is absolutely amazing and so conscientious. Works so hard and gives such good, thoughtful care.

I trained as a Nursery Nurse many moons ago and travelled the world on the back of it. I’m in early years education now and despite horrendous pay I love it .

...and back to the topic as said above 😁

Totally agree. I also followed an academic course but now, as a teacher, I guess I straddle both camps. My beef is with influencers who shill their children, block any dissent to present a fairy tale to their followers, are murky and evasive about their business deals. I am still chuckling that Clemmie is indignant about #pressdiscount - she really believes that the moment she tagged this company and took their discount, she didn't make some kind of trade. Really, just really.

He needs to drop the awkward, downtrodden dad stuff now, you should be spending more than that as it’s your children that have made you very very comfortable. I don’t care that my profile is visible.

The way I read it, he's not even saying he spent £15 on a top, he's saying he looked at a £15 top then ended up spending loads of money on clothes he will hide under his bed and never wear. Very poor taste joke I'd say in this age of over consumption. Ive got so much money I can just spend it on clothes I haven't even seen? Gross.

Yes I read it as that. That it snowballed from there with presumably MOD encouraging a large spend. They are so materialistic and consumerist. It’s very poor taste. No doubt he has a bespoke spangled mankini for camp bestival.

I don't have any issues per se with nursery nurses, the ones who looked after our children were absolutely lovely and very good at their jobs. I admired them for having the patience to do a job I could never do.

However, my actual point was that it isn't an occupation that requires any huge amount of intelligence or academic ability. It requires a different skill set and mind set, and that's why I likened them to the majority of the OD fan girls who are unable to see past the superficial hype.

I beg to differ. It does require intelligence. The nursery nurses who look after my two are definitely not lacking in the brains department- or I wouldn’t leave my children with them. I’ve commented on your very angry posts before and I think you let your anger cloud your judgement when trying to express yourself here. To any nursery nurses or childminders- or teachers, I salute you! You do a job I wouldn’t be able to do and I don’t think it’s fair to tar them all with the same brush if your experience of them hasn’t been a positive one. Im not trying to have a go at you, I just don’t think it’s fair or very nice to say that people of a certain profession don’t need “intelligence”.

My daughter in law is by no means low intelligence she chose a career she loved. Many people do it because they love it there is easier better paid work. DIL would be better paid by Lidl.

It’s off topic but I think childcare requires a huge amount of emotional intelligence. I’m a degree educated professional but I wouldn’t say I’m more intelligent than someone who cares for children. It’s a different sort of intelligence. I do see that there are some childcarers who aren’t bright but the good ones are very intelligent in their own way. I think we devalue childcare the same way we devalue most caring and generally feminine professions.

Yes, yes, so maybe 'intelligent in their own way' and 'emotional intelligence' whatever. They're just pretty ways of saying someone isn't academically intelligent, and really not that capable of analysis, critical thinking, information processing etc.

But, I'm not going to get bogged down in defending my opinion. So, as you were.

Well I'm going to get bogged down in telling you're a snob, and so dismissive of the work others put into caring for someone else's children. I have a degree and work in a field where I need to be intelligent and a fast learner - and guess what, I also worked in childcare for years. Children challenge you, keep you on your toes and so dismissing the skill or intellect of childcare workers as just 'intelligent in their own way' or 'emotionally intelligent' - is frankly rude and insulting. It's intelligence, end of.
