Totally agree with what you’re saying and that it is rude to people who aren’t parents. Although, since having a baby, I do get a lot more upset about anyone suffering. It’s definitely softened me.

Oh I see, I'm the same, since having my daughter in probably more emotional than I was but I just have one regular heart that covers all heart related jobs!

This is the wrong thread, but noticed one of the twins was in one.... this is the new FMLY fad.... patchy tiger named jackets. What an exercise in branding. Every component of those jackets are on alibaba.... the patches available for $0.40 each.

Then there’s the jacket. The blurb:
“Please welcome to the family our first very own branded kids denim jacket. To remain with our ethos we have worked hard to keep our sustainable approach by sourcing only the best existing materials & components from over stock resources to create a beautiful & premium quality jacket for our customers.
After so much love from you guys the past year it has simply been too hard to keep up with your kids orders based on our initial second hand sourcing approach.
So this is the result; A beautiful kids jacket developed out of our love for denim, in that perfect fit & feel, made of sturdy 12- 13 oz thick denim & washed with eco friendly standards to that impeccable mid wash blue”

Four clicks of the Internet....

£8-£10, chinese wholesale.
These retail at £50+ for plebs, and of course free for instamamas.

Ahh The new duck My Life Yes fad. How. Awful.

Those responses are amusing. Just proves how truly dim and unaware the fan girls are. Like I said, those same girls who dotted their i's with ickle hearts at school, and we're gently encouraged to do a childcare course, rather than actual academic subjects.

Oops, don't know why it posted twice? Or substituted were for we're?

😂😂😂 I love putting hearts on my i’s 😂😂😂 sometimes I do stars too!! Not in anything IMPORTANT, obviously but my kids like it. I also did A Levels. I failed them though so childcare would’ve been better!

Another morning another declaration of #pressdiscount. Why is she so awful at doing her job?

Haha

Also he can afford a £15 top when the ad below is gousto providing every dinner 🙄
Greg’s comment and all the ‘bants’ After has now disappeared. An attempt to ‘engage’ with negativity and look amazing with responses, and then delete because it made you seethe. Wonder if all the people who liked it got blocked.

Has this gone too?

see St Clemmie mentions another ‘press discount’ wasn’t sure what it really means so google provided the answer - Press discounts are as old as time; a PR will send journalists, writers and content creators a physical card or a code for online stores that gives them anything from 10-90% off retail price. Wondered how come Kate Middleton seems to wear Reiss all the time? The Royal Family can't accept freebies but they can accept a hefty discount. Bloggers and vloggers often receive these discounts in the hope they'll buy items from the brand and feature them on their platform of choice. 🤨

( not exactly gifted) You have to laugh don’t you, you are going to get maximum discount because you are going to mention them on your post and you have 600,000.00 followers, for them it’s a win win situation as all those followers now know about them that’s possibly thousands and thousands of potential new customers and it saves them how much in advertising so please don’t insult our intelligence, the cost to influencers is minimal compared to the average pleb until she actually says “I paid this amount” it could be anything from 10 pence upwards 🤨

She is as shameless, petulant and shady as ever! And people really wonder why influencers have a bad name! Sounds like an interesting topic for someone like "Woman's Hour" or one of the consumer programmes to explore - the relationship between influencer and their sales targets. Wonder if we could persuade our Clemmie to appear on it. Bet she'd turn up in scrubs!

Yes, Woman’s hour. Or Matt Alright from Watchdog would also be good. Or You and Yours on Radio 4. They could use the two recent articles m3ntioned here, inc. the one by @elisabethbasford.

And, another annoyance. Does St Clemmie of Conspicuous Consumption REALLY think the tile company gave her a #pressdiscount purely out of the goodness of their hearts? Because they admire her as a wonderful person? Really?

Are we meant to believe that the tile company gave her a #pressdiscount in the hopes that they would remain anonymous, and just enjoy that their tiles were being admired purely for their aesthetic value? Really? I mean, REALLY?

St Clemmie of CC, you don't seem aware of how the world actually works? They gave you the #pressdiscount solely, and purely in the knowledge that you would give them several mentions on the Gram, ergo leading to a huge raised awareness of their company and products. This is turn saves them £££££ on conventional advertising (with all its pesky rules & regulations about transparency and protecting the consumer) and will, no doubt, increase their sales, and therefore profits.

Honestly Clemmie, it's really that simple. Why are you so confused about this?

Hi! I’m new!! Been a lurker for a while but MODs latest post prompted me to comment. This ad vs press discount argument ... surely it’s a tax thing? As in ad involves some sort of contract / engaging of and paying for a service from the influencer. Presumably this would count as taxable income? Whereas a discount doesn’t as it’s “just” money off and therefore doesn’t count as income? Yes? No? Wrong end of the stick???
Ps keep up the good work! I love this site - holding people accountable and blowing open the mechanics behind the facade. Love it 👍

Pretty sure you have to pay tax on a benefit. When I worked at the BBC, we used to get free taxis home after a certain time if we worked late, after 1045 pm. Free meaning we didn’t pay for them, but the programme we worked for was charged. However there was a kerfuffle when the Inland Revenue said we were liable to pay tax on this. I left before anything came of it.

Widely used and accepted by who exactly Clemmie? By grubby influencers who don't want to admit what their game is and want to deceive their followers! Hope you remember to tag it every time you post it...... just like your clothes, your free furnishings, your kitchen etc.... Ah, such honesty!

Given that she isn’t a journalist or member of the press, I think it’s a bit disingenuous calling it a press discount. Why not call it a discount? Or if you have to name it an “influencers discount”?
It’s all about the phrasing, keep it vague so your followers are not sure, and it’s a way of circumnavigating the regulations 🤔

Wonder if those comments will be discreetly deleted soon 😂😂
