I was so surprised with the first Ep where Clare said she was jealous of Jessie’s success. And how Jessie is always just a little more successful than her. I’ve always thought Clare came across as the smarter, more successful, more likeable one. Exec Editor I’m your early 20s is a big achievement. Also surprised the Shameless girls would do a pod ep for Mamamia. Given their experience there

If Mia has handed the hosting of No Filter to Claire Murphy, then why is she still hosting some recent ones?It's like she just wants to do the extra juicy ones or ones she knows will be popular(such as the Pip Edwards one recently)

I listened to Wednesday’s episode of MMOL. Jessie was on there as she’s not going on their honeymoon until next week. Minimal chat about the weeding as they’ve kept most of the details for the subscriber episode which is a bit tacky! Jessie made a comment about many details of the wedding being a surprise to her as Luca did most of the organising and one of the few things she had to do was organise a reading (she said she asked for suggestions in the MMOL Facebook group) Mia also made a comment about Luca organising the wedding with ‘our’ wedding planner so it sounds like Jessie was not very involved.
Listened to the pod ep with Michele and Zara from shameless. Clare very obviously and pointedly

I did and it was pretty boring. Talked about how Luca is so old for his age - thought that was quite pointed. But on the whole, boring as bat tit. Spent a lot of it talking about Clare missing the reception (due to illness) as though she’d died - pretty tone deaf considering how many people have had an empty seat at events due to something much more than a tummy bug. Oh snd she still got hair and makeup etc despite possibly being contagious

No one expects them to work for free but they are funded and paid through the ridiculous number of ads we have to listen to throughout each podcast or on their website and articles. The advertising has gotten huge over the years. Initially, I think they were a bit choosy about the products, now I feel like if the price is right, they will advertise anything, and they will also include things in the recommendations at the end of the episodes for products or shows that are sponsoring the podcast.
If I turn on a free to air TV channel
and watch part one of a series and have to sit through 6 ads at every ad break and get to the end only to find out I have to pay for part two I’d be annoyed.
Mia complaining about this then driving home to her $13 million house doesn’t really fill me with sympathy.
Chat 10 Looks 3 have a wonderful subscription model..pay what you like, from as little as $1 a month and it helps them to continue their podcast and help with the costs involved but everyone gets the same content regardless of whether they subscribe or not. The Shameless girls have a subscription too but no extra content, just early access to things.

I have heard ads for McDonald’s and 7/11 for gods sake so it’s not coming across as an organic brand partnership or done well like with other podcasts. You’re spot on about it being like free to air TV with ads and then having to pay for part 2… can’t see the appeal of the subscription.

Yep, wealthy people who just get wealthier and are Teflon like her become so fragile to criticism and can only tolerate adoration and head pats because they surround themselves with those people. They stop listening to the customer.
