I was wondering the same thing the other day. I really loved following her, and just heard her old interview on Shameless for the first time too, so have been trying to work out if she’s okay since I listened to that
I know that she had been having a challenging time with her.m cancer treatment and not many options left. Apart from her engagement post she’s been very quiet. I have listening to all her interviews and admire her and took on her sun safety message.

For a media company, they sure have a hard time getting the spelling correct in their podcasts titles. Do they still have old school sub editors, or just "executive editors" (what even is that?) who swan around on their personal IG accounts for most of the day?

stop being mean! It’s free content!

I kid, I kid. They churn things out so quickly; quantity over quality. I doubt anything they write is properly edited.

Well Mia doesn’t know the difference between less and fewer.. unless Australian English is different to British English!

I went to the Mamamia Outloud live event on the weekend and i did enjoy myself. This forum got a shoutout though. Jessie said that on a hate forum on the internet someone thought she spoke about her broken leg too much, and then she went on to talk about the broken leg incident for 10min. It was entertaining though, if you are into it. The whole event was mostly them talking about themselves.

I hate the rhetoric that tattle is a place for trolls and haters. Glad you had fun! The photos and videos they shared made it seem like a laugh!

I actually see so much friendly chat and agreeable behaviour here compared to Instagram. People don’t argue and when someone is corrected or maybe told why what they’ve said is wrong or not on people generally apologise and everyone moves on. You don’t see that much on Facebook or Instagram - not bad for a bunch of miserable trolls and haters with no life huh…

I have only just discovered this thread and am BLOWN AWAY that there is any positive sentiment towards Mia whatsoever. I guess I’m older than most of the posters in here but amongst people my age it’s an established truth that Mia Freedman is a genuine piece of tit who built an empire on the back of illegally not paying interns, stealing work from writers, forcing people to work for free, blatantly plagiarising and running a workplace where bullying and body shaming was rife. How she’s been able to pívot from the earlier online days into podcasts and seemingly swept all the content stealing stuff under the carpet is astounding to me. She’s is the original mean girl of the Australian media landscape and I would discourage anyone from giving her any of their hard earned money.

Yessssss!!!!!!! I am absolutly shocked and then realised I must be old (I’m 31) but it was literally a few years ago before the vid it was hugely known how much of a bully etc and all the things you said above
I remember the not paying interns and stealing work now the podcasts and everyone loves them/her
No.
She is evil.

Would love to hear Rosie Waterland's full story about her time there, and Jamila seems to have kept her relationship with Rosie and supports her and doesn't seem to like Mia much.
I had enough of them during lockdown. I'm from Melbourne, so when NSW had to go in their lockdown last year. I think Mia was saying she found herself in tears thinking it's too hard and she couldn't do it, was like two days into it. The disconnect I felt from them was pretty obvious. Then they started on the back to school for kids because of their mental health, which is so understandable, but had the backing of anti-lockdown groups and Liberal party here in Victoria which I don't think they ever addressed.
(Trying not to bring politics or for/against lockdown discussions here🫣)

I’m 36 and grew up completely idolising Mia. I was even a journalist for quite a long time. I guess I’m jaded - a lot of this is/was par for the course. I desperately want any tea on her but taking advantage of interns and not paying staff is depressingly normal for media companies.

The Roxanne Gay debacle and then not being able to break into the US are my favourite Mia stories

Don’t forget how she thought she’d bravely use the “married for same sex marriage” - cringeeeee… I honestly think Mia is the most tone deaf and privileged without a skerrick of self awareness. It’s baffling. Must be nice to literally grow up super wealthy and straight into still being rich. She is the most tokenistic white lady feminist, it’s staggering. Mamamia is such a terrible echo chamber.

Do you mind filling me in on Marriage for Same Sex Marriage? I googled but didn’t find anything. I’m 29 so not sure where that puts me in comparison to the other lovely people on here- but I’ve always found Mia to come across as very cringe and toxic and nasty. The Roxane Gay incident was absolutely next level. My personal philosophy is that being horrible will show through in your appearance eventually and it really seems to have caught up to her, she looks absolutely haggard. Would also love to hear the full story from Rosie Waterland, I never particularly warmed to her but she’s a talented writer.
