I can stay quiet no longer! I’d never heard of gossip sites til 2 weeks ago & never heard of Dear Lidl until last week…I am now deep in the throes of a passionate affair with tattler & this thread (topic? Mastery of disaster? This is my first post, I’m still learning the lingo) in particular. I’ve barely looked at social media the past few years as it is toooo full of money-grabbing dimwits and their adoring airheads. I thought there was something wrong with me, that I’m the only one having all sorts of murky & despairing thoughts about the state of the world and it’s vapid, vile inhabitants.

Then I found this group! I never knew there were funny, clever, lovely people on the internet, people who feel the feels I feel! Bravo tattlers for showing me that there IS entertainment and community to be found online. I am reborn. You are poets and aesthetes. I would buy you ALL one of the best rocking horse, if only it weren’t singular.

btw Lyd used to mention her donations to that charity that repurposed clothes for interviews, and what she was going to sell, she hasn't talked about that in a long time. It would be nice to know she still does that (though NONE of her dresses now would be appropriate for any office haha)

I do think everyone would appreciate her doing some charity work or featuring more responsible brands, but again, influencers are paid to glamourize consumption.

....and to be very honest I prefer a fashion try on to watching her make a salad 😆😆😆......and be so freakin proud of herself and smug like she deserves a prize or something 🥗😇🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

Personally I dont mind when influencers do hauls, its just when they are hideous gingham dresses that I wouldnt be seen dead in that I take umbrage. What confuses me is who is being influenced to by these items? And where are they wearing them? That baffles me.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure the average person does not need/wear 50 frilly, over the top dresses every season. And if they do, that’s an addiction.

I genuinely think it is a combination of the amount of stuff she purchases and the high price tag. It is her job to influence but it is also her job to engage with her audience and continue to be relatable. If every vlog is just a haul of 10+ 1k dresses followed by her watering plants in the greenhouse wearing said dresses people will get bored. It also isn't relatable to wear expensive dresses whilst doing mundane chores.

When youtube influencing first started and up until a few years ago, it was all about the overconsumption and constant hauls but after the events of the last couple of years and the current economic climate, people don't want to be seeing those types of videos. If influencers don't want to adapt to the changing times then unfortunately for them they will face a shift in how they are perceived and should brace themselves for some negativity. If you are relying on the public to create your income you do need to adapt, that is just a fact of life.
 
I don't remember her sowing any lettuce seeds? She usually broadcasts when she has sown seeds- ie the courgette, peas and carrots but never mentioned the lettuce... at best these were plug plants from the garden centre I'd say.
