‘Do so much good’ 🙄

wait, so the Queen is unwell and Louise is intent on making the situation all about her?! she may be a royalist, she may be sad about the Queen's state of health - but all the bullshit about feeling a personal connection, because her grandparents were married in the same year etc is just bizarre. my late grandmother was born in the same year as the Queen, but she never claimed to have a "personal connection" with her, simply based on tem coincidentally being the same age. 🤷🏻‍♂️

and the moment it is announced that the Queen is unwell, influencers like Louise are immediately using the news as an opportunity to create content. can you imagine the sheer amount of influencers using it to their advantage when the Queen actually dies, with faux outpourings of grief and distress, as if any of them actually give a duck and aren't just using the death of an elderly lady to create content and make money! 😡

Its because she's booooooooring. Disneyland and the Royals and generic chick lit and pink glittery stuff for girls and desperate to be on TV and marrying a guy she met at uni and not having any kind of aspiration beyond getting knocked up and inheriting daddys money. Just boring. Boooring. None of these things are bad on their own but all together christ alive. I would be so pleased if one day she professed a passion for monster trucks or something.

I am genuinely interested in hearing the opinions from Britons on the Queens passing. I am a born and bred Kiwi (New Zealander), I have no Māori blood and am from European descent. How do you feel about colonisation? Māori have continually been treated incredibly poorly, is any of this recognised or known overseas? The monarchy are being put upon a pedestal here in NZ and it just astounds me.

We don't all fetishise the monarchy and I find it absolutely absurd the way much of the country does. For me there are a few levels to this - the colonialism, the taxes that are thrown at a family who are no different from the rest of us whilst benefit claimants are shamed and mocked, and the total batshittery of mourning someone else's nan who you've never met and had no relationship with. The amount of insta posts I've seen about "a lifetime of service" and "dignified leadership", like what did she actually do outside of supporting her paedophile son and visiting the colonies in a private jet? I'm sure she was a very sweet old lady but why any of us should feel this as a personal loss is beyond me. I think anyone losing a family member is terribly sad; I didn't know she was personally related to the thousands of people who showed up outside Buckingham Palace weeping.

Edited to delete half because it posted twice for some reason.

I have no great love for the royals or the institution, but had a fondness for the Queen, and absolutely zero desire for Charles to take over. As far as the general British opinion on colonisation, I can't speak for everyone but there aren't enough hours in the day for us to consider every culture we have waded through pig headedly over the past hundreds of years (and we are not unique in that regard on the global scale, just possibly the most relevant target but that's a conversation for another day). As regards to new Zealand specifically, personally I'm learning a lot more about it than I've ever known before thanks to taskmaster NZ, and their use of te reo and cultural references, atleast among fans it has lead to many people deep diving into the culture and history which isn't exactly taught here, so over time I imagine more light will be shed on that particular dark corner of history. Māori tiktok is also big, so I believe as more media makes its way over here, more people will take an interest.

Lots of people can’t stand the royal family. Personally I think it’s ridiculous and archaic to have royals in this day and age. Their history of colonisation is absolutely disgusting. Having to pay for the royalty via taxes, while people are starving is just sickening. I view royalists as ignorant and deluded, and think Louise is a perfect example of one. Privileged, has generational wealth, kids in private school. Awful all round, in my opinion.

I personally don’t think you can look past the abhorrent nature of the royals just because you have a little soft spot for an old lady (how many people are justifying being okay with them) and especially now in a cost of living crisis thinking about the pomp and grandeur to come with the funeral and the coronation and how much that will cost it just makes me sick.
I could never detach the old lady from the p*adoph*le apologist / colonialist that she is but many many do and are getting very riled up about people being disrespectful about her.

I was fond of the Queen and I do enjoy Royal events. I'm not looking forward to the coming weeks and the amount of money which will be poured into her funeral, Charle's coronation and all other events while there's a cost of living crisis. Something about massive wealth being on display at a time like this doesn't sit right with me. But she seemed a nice woman, I'm not sad about her death though, she was 96 and I'm sure it was peaceful.
The way people on social media are behaving is ridiculous, why did she need to share so many posts announcing her death? Bet she was crying 🤢

I have a passing fondness for the Queen as she reminded me of my own paternal grandmother (they were the same generation), however I think the monarchy should have ended with her. The amount of money that is going to go into her funeral and then the coronation when most of the country won’t be able to afford heating this winter is disgusting. Her death will also be used to cover up any dodgy Tory dealings by the PM and her government in the next few months as no one will be paying them any attention.

Louise needs to give her head a wobble and look beyond the end of her privileged nose for once. Being a huge royalist in this day and age is tacky af

This is such a good point! Louise fetishises the royal family because they reflect her own deeply held desires and world views. The elitism, wealth, status and attention for nothing other than being born. Basically her dream life. If you tried to have a conversation with her about the darker underside of it all her head would start spinning.
