Some great theories on Kate. I can see getting her kid back as a motivation - but she doesn't have any time for him anyway so what's the use? Won't be a strong motive to be H and doing all this tit just to leave the kid with microwave dinners while you run around like Jack Bauer. And she's not senior enough to be pulling strings. She might be bent, but I don't think she's H. The Hillside theory seems the most plausible - everything else would be a let down for me.

She’s shot Jo and reveals herself to Ryan.
They concoct a story about Ryan’s involvement to get him off the hook.
Don’t forget it’s only suspicion about Ryan so far about the drownings. No proof of anything else!
Remember how Kate just happened to show up to that scene? she took Dot’s dying declaration also. Dot leapt in front of a bullet for her. Hard to think that was love
The double shot is one to show that Jo shot at them first they’ll then plant the gun on Jo?

I think we’re meant to feel sorry for her. But even in the workplace she’s a bit of a limp lettuce isn’t she?
Kate turning up at her drowning after following Ryan in Terry’s car actually made it worse as I think Ryan’s plan was to kill both Terry & the officer whose name I can’t remember - Lisa? I just don’t think she’s bent I really don’t. She put in some effort chasing down Dot, jumping onto a moving lorry and running so bloody much, when she could have easily let him get away if she was corrupt too.
I like Vicky McClure too much for Kate to be bent!

I think this is the whole point though. She’s meant to be an absolute nervous terrified wreck, rather than full of authority like she should be, and Kelly is portraying that excellently. The little tells of anxiety even when she’s got her strict voice on are so well done.

Totally agree she’s far too naive to have grown up in the OCG environment, the way she clearly actually thought she could just relocate Ryan proved that for me. I think she’s going to have an absolutely tragic backstory though, and the hold will be that she thought she’d escaped a hellish childhood by becoming a copper only for the OCG to find her and start blackmailing her by threatening to have that taken away from her. And she’s pissed at her mum (or adoptive mum) who never told her when she was going through vetting etc

I have no idea lol but it’s fun guessing isn’t it?
Davidson is a reactive character because she’s a pawn of the OCG directed from above to steer the Gail Vella investigation and therefore is not in control of the initial conflict with AC-12 unlike all the other guests who came before her.
But she’s not passive. She makes choices - she breaks up with Farida, her stitch up of Buckells is extremely clever and all her own manipulations, she tests Kate as much as Kate tests her. She has a clear, active goal - she wants out. We’re seeing her clumsily veer from the original plan, like when she tried to get rid of Ryan.
There’s a ton of really interesting stuff going on with her.
Davidson I think is a character who the audience won’t be able to fully judge until the end IMO. We’re deliberately being kept in the dark about her motives.
Davidson’s character is not scripted to radiate natural warmth and charisma. The entire point of her character is that she’s a traumatised, terrified ball of rage tightly locked inside a cracking facade of ice cold steeliness. Kelly MacDonald is doing what the script is asking of her very well.

The 4th Man/Woman has morphed into the “Big Bad” rather than a comprised officer. Cottan was given orders by the OCG and had to execute the plan using his network of bent officers. He was very cunning and calculating. Hilton was a wet lettuce and got offed by the OCG. Biggeloe was more interested in getting into Hastings pants than supervillainy. We’ve seen officers like Cole and Prasad who were nastier and capable of causing more damage.
It also seems ludicrous that AC-12 has been giving out immunity like sweets but seemingly has so little info to show for it.

With (original) Dot's dying declaration, what was the actual question asked of him, to which he supposedly gave the "H" reply? (Blinky eyes, nod of the head or morse code or whatever it was). I assume that Kate asked him a question but it's so long ago that I watched it that I can't quite remember the specifics, only the gist.
Personally I think the H thing has been dragged out for too long. I think they should have wrapped it up already and moved onto something else ? The longer it goes on the more underwhelming the reveal becomes.

Misdirection by Kate? Another nail in the bent coffin for her!
Yeah before S6 I did think she was bent and that was a big factor. Hastings did look like he clocked it was different in S5E6 but hasn’t mentioned it (yet) and he apparently isn’t suspicious of her. It’s very strange though.
