Did John Corbett qualify for line of duty death benefit? If he didn't and Ted's 50k is intact ,where did Steph get the cash from to invest in the hairdresser's ? They could have had savings but Steve implied ( I think ) that she'd nearly lost the house.Who's coming to her house often enough that she has a sports TV package-Ted ?
Would they even test for prescription drugs in the police tests?

I don’t think John got line of duty death in service as he was wiped off the police database and not a serving officer due to being undercover.

No Steph said he didn’t get anything for death in the line of duty! I think she said they got his life insurance but you’re right Steve definitely did mention it’s lucky she got to keep the house. Personally I thought the sports package thing was just referring to having an expensive tv package but I may be wrong! I’m a bit confused about the £50k anyway, she said HMRC had been onto her but if there’s £50k in her loft then why would they know anything? Unless there’s more....

Jill was appointed by the PCC in series 3, but we don't know who that is, they're never named. Sidwani wasn't appointed until series 5.
Of the "executive leadership", Hilton and Dryden have been proven to be corrupt. The others are Osborne, Andrea Wise (took over from Dryden), Sidwani,
Osborne served at Hillside, was on the counter terrorism team who tried to set up Steve and started it all, he was at South Ferry which is where Danny Waldron was, Polk Avenue where Roz Huntley and Buckells were, was involved with the Lawrence Chistopher case and is now the chief constable so I imagine that would influence who gets appointed to the PCC roles.
Marcus Thurwell was also at all those stations with Osborne, investigated the dead social worker from series 3 (with Fairbanks), and if he is in Spain, could almost certainly be the OCG's "Spanish connection".
Osborne is almost too obvious but he absolutely fits.

What is the difference between being undercover and being deep undercover?

The nod between them was a mark of respect. It was clear from the underpass scene that she left because of his actions in S5 and hadn’t spoken since. Kate will always be his officer out of sentiment because of their history and he’s protective of her.
 
So sorry for the change of subject, but any recent theories about who actually killed Gail Vella? Just rewatching and Lee Banks seems adamant that Carl wasn’t the one who killed Vella and they’re just going to “blame the dead guy”. Now of course there’s no reason to trust that Lee’s being honest, but now Carl’s dead there’s not necessarily much reason for him to lie either 🤔. In fact, by suggesting it wasn’t Carl, isn’t he keeping their investigation going on even longer and deeper 🤔

I think it was Ryan, acting on instruction of whoever the high up potential H person is.

Yeah I definitely have suspicions about it being Ryan, especially after the incident with Jo and then with Kate too 👀. Saying that though, Ryan mentioned John and Maneet but never said anything about Vella, although I suppose there could be any number of reasons for that 🤔

I don’t think she has actually invested in a hairdressers! Just my feeling but I thought she said that to cover up Ted giving her the 50k?

I thought the same, I thought she just said the first excuse she could come up with! But now I’m just confused why she mentioned HMRC to Ted when the money looks to be in her loft 🤷🏼‍♀️. And I think it’s interesting it was a “hairdressers” after everything with Laverty in s1, but maybe not relevant I don’t know at this point 🤣

So recap
1) Steph got nothing from the police death in service
2) She got a payout from his personal life insurance policy. The sum assured should have been set up to cover their mortgage in full. If she got like £200k from a life policy, that would explain how she legitimately kept the house.
3) She also got £50k from Ted (loft money) hard to say how much has been spent yet but a lot seemed to still be there?
4) If she has been spending lavishly and has no legitimate funds coming into her account then she could raise suspicions/ get investigated under proceeds of crime / anti money laundering legislation - more likely by National Crime Agency than HMRC. However no signs she has been living lavishly (other than Sky Sports)
5) She claims to be getting by with hairdressers income and some dividends from equity she put into the business. This raises a lot of questions for me as she would have had to invest heavily to generate a reasonable income from it. How much equity did she put in, was this funded from proceeds of the life policy that paid out on John's death, Or was it funded with some of the £50k Ted gave her? Most of it is still in the loft though?
6) Maybe a sudden large investment into the hairdresser's has set alarm bells ringing over source of funds but again I don't think HMRC would investigate, it would be the NCA, and also how did she fund it
7) Or... the whole hairdresser's thing is a lie and she is using Ted money to pay her Sky Sport etc!

Ok maybe H is that old man (Alf Butterfield) who was being bullied on the estate. And him and Kate are working together by grooming Ryan to become a police officer just so Kate could (potentially) shoot him and it would be revenge by Alf for all those years Ryan was a terror to him.
Ok maybe Alf Butterfield isn’t H but this would be a great side story ;)
