No, the reasons Amber Heard is being ridiculed is complicated and not constructed to just one single reason.

there’s probably an element of yeh, at face value she is over dramatic and it’s entertaining. That’s a very small part of it though. Johnny Depp is a little ridiculous too. He’s had meandering rambling testimonies, he’s a grown man doodling and eating jelly beans at one of the most famous trials of the decade. He’s making jokes about “jars of dirt” when confronted with accusations about drug abuse. But he is exposed to vitriol for it? Not in the same way at all. This is an extremely harrowing trial, about very difficult and severe topics. It’s included sexual assault, violence, substance abuse. It’s not appropriate for either party to be ridiculed no matter how “ridiculous” they come across.

there’s also probably an element of public outrage at a sense of having been duped by Heard and championing perceived injustices against Depp

Heard fits into the stereotype of the “femme fatale” the attractive, overtly sexual, dangerous female (she literally gets typecast as this), so it’s easier to demonise her in this trial. She fits cleanly into the common public perception of what an “immoral” woman looks like.

there’s definitely an element of misogny - putting a woman who publicly caused the downfall of a powerful man, back in her place. The independent touched upon it in the below article. Again, it isn’t seeking to establish facts surrounding the trial and who may or may not be guilty of what - it’s specifically examining the social drives of the behaviour and the impact;

I actually think people trying to simplify this case into concepts like 'misogyny' is really reductive and suggests lots of people are unable to rationally and logically unpick the evidence themselves, removed from the man vs woman subtext the media keep trying to shove onto us to keep them aligned with the zeitgeist.

It's a person against another person, and the evidence so far suggests one of these people is lying more than the other.

No, there was little to no ridicule until this trial. Criticism yes but ridicule was limited.

The judge said just before the week break that she told the jury they’d be done by Labour day. Labour day is next Monday. That’s really not a lot of time for a trial this long is it?! Especially if closing statements are only done Thursday/Friday.
They will have the case this Friday to begin deliberations. Memorial Day is Monday, Labor Day is the beginning of September.
There isn't a set in stone amount of time for deliberations, could be an hour could be a week. Judge will urge them to come to a unanimous decision, but if they can't will be a hung jury and a mistrial.

im confused, I didn’t say ridicule happened pre-trial?

my post literally did the *exact opposite* of trying to simplify it down to misogny. I literally listed other reasons and said it was complex.

and again, its nothing to do with who is or isn’t lying in court. This isn’t about the evidence of the case - my post and the accompany article were about the public mockery of Amber Heard.

That would be changing their story though, wouldn't it? Didn't she say he kicked the bed, or his foot/boot did the damage when he was attacking her. Would the risk another change to another story?? Or they may just be trying to say that it's simply JDs knife and nothing to do with the damage to the bed.
What it is an admission that they have a shambolic case, and her lawyers didn't prepare properly.

But the knife is there now.

How do we know its a day later?

Still catching up.

What motive would JD have for damaging the bed with the knife?
He wouldn't.

But then what motive would he have for doing half the stuff Amber claims he did?

Are we able to watch it live at all and where?

Did she bring the bottle rape testimony to the UK trial?
Not sure... it was in camera.
I'm guessing not.
My hunch is that it was either Hicksville or the cabin incident, as they appear to be little changed in her retelling overtime.

No you didn't, you disagreed with my OG post where I said people are ridiculing her because of her behaviour on the stand. I say there was none prior to this to back up my statement.

ETA, this isn't some misogynistic conspiracy, people are watching and noting that her behaviour on the stand is weird, fake and ridiculous.

Sorry I meant Memorial Day 🤣🤣

Now, if you want to talk about whether the ridicule of her is fair or not, then I have mixed feelings. I don't normally condone anyone being ridiculed but it's inevitable given how ludicrous she has acted in court.

I do think that Amber should ideally be pitied because she can't help the way she is but she's hurting people and that cannot be allowed to continue.

Just wanted to add that it's really hard to have positive feelings towards someone whilst they continue to lie to ruin someone because they didn't want to be in a relationship with them anymore. If she ever admits it then people will be kinder.

Yes, but you seem to be implying that the online mockery of her is because she is a woman, whereas I'd opine it's just because she is an obvious and massive liar.

There is a YouTube video that I watched from Australia and they had a lady expert on and she talked about how amber wasn’t believable because she was not very consistent in how she behaved during her testimony and they also talked about Depp was more believable because he was more consistent in his behavior on and off the stand. It was ready interesting.

It doesn’t matter if the ridiculing happened after the trial or not though. It just matters that it is currently happening. Because it’s during the current trial that the details of the domestic abuse allegations became most exposed to the public. The U.K. trial wasn’t against Amber and it wasn’t publicly televised.

my point is that it isn’t *just* people saying that her behaviour is a bit odd, there’s a lot of vitriol aimed at her. Theres name calling. Theres disinformation on the trial itself being spread on social media. Johnny Depp is being weird too during the trial but there isn’t the same level of hatred or aggression towards him.

I’m saying it isn’t *just* misogyny but it’s undeniable that there are misogynistic elements to it

What times does court start today is it 2 or 3? Sorry if it’s already been asked I can’t find it….I might need a mega pint for the JD bit today

What part of my post - where I said I think there were lots of elements at play, including but not limited to, misogny - read to you like I thought she was only being mocked because she was a woman?
