I had actually pre ordered wean in 15 as I'm due to start weaning my baby next month. as a first timer I'm so confused & the health visitors etc have been called back to the wards where I am so feel limited on support.

Thank GOODNESS I came across this thread! I'm still non the wiser really but what I have learned is not to take his advice & have therefore just cancelled my pre-order! Thank you!! 👍

I weaned both mine on Annabel Karmel. She does do some BLW now as well but I did it the traditional way and her recipes are totally foolproof and tasty, my girls eat ok now, or as well as 3 & 9 year olds eat I guess 🤣🤣

I really recommend Gill Rapley’s book “Baby-Led Weaning”. I did traditional weaning with my first and BLW with my second. This book gave me all the reassurance and info I needed about BLW. My second has always eaten exactly what we have from 6 months onwards. No purees or having to sit there spoon feeding while your own dinner gets cold! I can’t recommend it enough if BLW is the route you want to go down.
This is a great book used it for both my girls.

If you're wanting to do blw the best advice I'd give is to learn the difference between choking and gagging. Gagging doesnt need intervention, choking does. It's scary at first but know the difference, have a look at choking first aid for babies so you're prepared, but choking is very rare. Hope that's helpful to you.

Yes! BLW is brilliant as you don’t have to prep anything different. I loved the laziness of it 🤣
This!! My little girl has eaten what we do since the day she turned 6 months.

It was messy to start with but since she turned 12 months that improved a lot. Now at almost 2 she sits at the table, uses cutlery confidently & makes less mess than me 🙈😂

Definitely recommend the Gill Rapley book here too.

Lots of great FB groups especially if you want to BLW. Gill Rapley book is good too. I did a baby first aid course too which made me more confident. I would say just try to relax and enjoy the experience as much as possible ☺️

Oh and as mentioned above knowing the difference between choking and gagging

Totally agree with all the comments on the Gill Rapley book, also her cookbook is good too that goes along with the BLW theory book. I did it with both mine and have never needed to hide veg. The only things they will not eat are son- bananas, daughter - courgette.... so definitely not fussy 🤣

If your parents are still alive chat to them. Parents back in the day fed their kids pretty well without the need for "experts"
Often wonder what we did before all these experts
I really like the old fashioned Annabel Karmel weaning books I still use some of her family recipes now ! The weaning books are a bit more for purées etc not sure if she’s updated them now but I liked them as they went through what food were suitable for what age ! I did the purées for my first and baby led weaning for my next two so it’s just up to you to decide which way ! I’m sure I just looked online and read up on baby led weaning there may even be a Facebook group but definitely lots of info out there ! From the stuff I have seen joe doing it’s far to restrictive and over the top with all that bloody kale !

maybe an unpopular opinion but I think it’s irresponsible to take a baby on a non essential trip to a fancy deli for chocolate brownies when their mother is at home.

Its irresposiable going to a fancy deli anyway? If I want some treats I get them with my big shop. My babys not been in the car since before the lock down. Dont even know if she will fit in her car seat now. Must check any maybe get a new one ordered 😬

My eldest has been in the car when I dropped my mother's day flowers of at my mums. Did a quick drive by wave. That was weeks ago now.

Now I’m not a parent so I don’t know how difficult it probably is to eat with a crying baby but... wouldn’t you be so scared something may fall on their head? Potentially something hot? I dunno? I don’t spill food down me every meal 🤣 but occasionally there is a spillage! Thoughts?? Have to say Marley is super cute (despite his bleeping annoying Dad).

However you eat holding a baby you risk dropping food on them. Its either that or don't eat some days. I'd avoid foods that could burn baby like soup
Live q&a with a sleep specialist... I wonder if anyone will ask about their questionable choices... Bed on the floor, that massive padded suit, Marley and indie sharing a bed, have I missed anything ?

What the hell is that baby strapped into? He just always looks like a knob to me, no matter what he does. Sometimes it is a necessity to get any food, but I would avoid hot food!
