Chewing the Fat tonight covered social media, GOB acted shocked when it was said that employers often review or monitor their employees' social media accounts. Alex Grundon said you have to be careful of everything you put out.
GOB brought up that fact Lydia Millen has been called out after her tone-deaf announcement that she was decamping to the Savoy when her heating stopped working. One of the contributors said she finds the whole influencer thing vulgar, adding that many don't have the luxury lifestyles they portray but they actually work as nannies and such.
Bet her face was a picture re the vulgar thing. It is. It can be lucrative but it’s vulgar. A lot of them have no integrity, they will push any old product, as long as it brings them validation (you look amazing, you are great) or money/expensive stuff. I am sure when GOB started her vlog she never would imagine she would be sitting in her bathroom pushing a glowy skincare product, swearing blind she only had the main light on, she never used ring lights - but reflected in her bathroom tiles was the ring light that made her look glowy. Incidentally, she has never mentioned those products since. Like a lot of stuff, showcased, then never worn or commented about again. I make no apology for keep mentioning Ringate - it shows her greed and lack of integrity.

Listening to random bits of GOB. There has been talk of Steve Allen, a caller compared them.

Another caller mentioned a BBC boss being on a BBC RL show last week (Eddie N I think), he was asked about GOB and Barbican Bob, apparently said they are great broadcasters but changes are needed. GOB wants the clip played.

GOB said listeners abroad can't listen due to the football but I have been in 4 countries and 7 time zones in the past couple of weeks and have only been unable to access BBC Sounds for a couple of short periods.

She has started reading out her complete social handle again.

Says her asthma symptoms are gone, she was crediting the freebie oxygen treatment she had, quite ridiculous seeing she was recommended many more sessions, as someone here said, was it something crazy like 40 sessions?

she loves Niki Bedi and wishes Niki would cover for her on BBC RL when she's off. Take that Carrie Grant
Another sly dig at one of her colleagues. I think Carrie does a decent job covering for MAM and I think she deals with callers much better than MAM on the phone ins. After all of the remarks about Vanessa, it seems she is moving on to Carrie!

I think she has been told to stop Vlogging at Broadcasting House. When she did the afternoon show, she would Vlog snippets from the office and even Vlog live on air with music playing. Now she only Vlogs at the security gates and the camera is often comveniently blurred.

She said on Monday night's show that she doesn't think the podcast is going to happen. This was said and she briskly moved one. "We tried" she explained. The way MAM speaks sometimes, I wonder if her show will get the axe when they move to national broadcasting to late evenings. To be fair, I think it would be a shame, as her late night show is far superior to other regional broadcasts at that time of the evening. If I were her, I would try and wangle a spot on The One Show, surely she has passed the producers in the corridor. The filming pattern would suit her better. She does have a (small) national familiarity, after appearing on Titchmarsh, This Morning and her acting work. It's a shame Inside Out came to an end really. Like her or loathe her, most of London recognises Jo Good.

I don’t think most of London knows who she is. It isn’t a well listened to radio station. The One Show wouldn’t be interested in her, they have access to real known names. All her tv work was ages ago. Her star, which never shone that brightly, is on permanent wane.

I don't live in London (even though I listen to the show), where I live, local radio presenters and news presenters are household names. The promos for BBC Radio London "the sound of London is BBC Radio London", makes it sound like a citywide institution. Come to think of it, most of MAM's callers come from outside of London, Amsterdam, Steyning, Newcastle etc. She always says it's an international show. 🤣

London is a big place, local stations don’t have the same reach as local ones - in terms of engagement and knowing all they are. Their audience has been dwindling for years. I knew Robert Elms before because of his small fame back in the day when he went out with Sade. Vanessa Feltz was a national personality before she got her radio show. Carrie Grant, knew her from tv. Jo Good, I only recognised her from Crossroads when I happened across her show and looked her up. So no, born and bred Londoner her, clueless to who they are.

Very interesting. Eddie Nestor says to BBC director "If it (the changes) goes ahead the way you're proposing, Jo Good is gone".

GOB's Thursday night show.

She came from a party at the London Library. Said they've made her a member. 🤪Do they know her only book talk is to complain she has no time to read? What is the latest book she's not managed to read for radio show research? Maybe they believed her line, that she used to "devour" books - though I can't imagine she could name more than three books she's read. She spoke about it again on Chewin', telling Jos Vantyler that the library is used as a filming location and she would take him there - but she wasn't sure if they could go for tea. Displaying her usual ignorance and entitlement, GOB obviously has no interest in the place other than as a backdrop to her narcissism and as a potential social venue.

A guest was a woman who does a podcasts, she records random sounds out-and-about. She said she needs to be careful when recording anyone who might be able to be identified if speaking. Such care to protect privacy of those recorded is not something GOB has considered for a moment.

She'll not be doing her radio show again next week. At about 1 34.00 she tells listeners she'll be posting on her socials every day that she is off, brazenly reading her complete social handle. We all know many of her posts will be advertising, from which she directly benefits or profits.

I wonder if BBC management are aware of this.

Caught up on vlogmas. 2nd one is mostly flogging Mantle, the brand she was flogging with the ring light. Careful this time to do it by daylight/candlelight. I skipped the flog, it was quite long. She is extraordinarily proud of her skin. It looks parched and older than her age. Can only assume she can’t see properly without her specs. The subscriber’s child was very kind, it was a lovely gesture.
