I have never heard of a advanced cancer patient being put on a ventilator in the UK, but I have known it happen in the US.
Usually an head consultant will fill out a respect form and advise against CPR. Ward level care to be offered to a patient, but not ICU care.
When a patient is actively dying, I think a ventilator would be extremely cruel. I used to spend alot of time on research on the smart patients website which is US based. Cancer patients coming together and rallying for the very best care. City of hope actually comes highly recommend in terms of trials and cancer care, it is certainly up there with MD Anderson, Dana Farber Insitute, UCLA, Mem Sloan Kettering. Smart patients know their stuff when it comes to seeking out experts in the cancer field.
Something is indeed amiss... A few weeks ago Kyle said Jennys chest was pretty much stable. Now her entire lung is full of tumour? Every lobe?
Jenny had a scan a few days ago to look if the drain could be removed? Didn't they notice a lung fully engulfed with a tumour?
The xray to look for a pulmonary embolism when its a CT angiogram thats needed.
Kyle says when Jenny switches to comfort care the doctor said they have lots of drugs available to help Jenny with her breathing? Why the wait? Surely if she was unwell enough to attend ER for shortness of breath, those drugs should have already been given?
I have never seen a patient use a nasal canula for high flow oxygen, usually its a non rebreather mask for high flow oxygen?
Considering Jenny is on high flow oxygen, she is actually able to talk quite well.
So sad to see Jenny talking and giving permission for Kyle to fall in love again and remarry. The comment about Kyle feeling Jennys subscribers would be mad at him if he moves on? Who cares about what subscribers think?
I find it sad that Jenny says she is dying. Her sister, Kyle and the kids are at the hospital with her, and Jenny chooses to go live on youtube? Youtube comes before her children?
