That's actually one of the most frequently debated quotes from the New Testament as it doesn't actually mean what it says.
You need to read the whole of that chapter of Matthew to understand what Jesus meant by what he said. But considering this is a Jacob Rees-Mogg thread and not the Jesus Rees-Mogg thread, may I suggest we leave the Bible off there? (Not wanting to moderate btw)

I will stick to what I said, JRM cannot and should not be championed as being a good Catholic MP when he clearly is not.

If you're going to start referring to the interpretations of oddballs like Joseph Smith, then yes we may as well leave it there! The only people we can trust are the Church Fathers - because that's where the Bible came from.

No I wasn't. I was taught by nuns and have qualifications in religion and ethics.
But you carry on being blinkered.

I'll just leave you with this to think about seeing as you say you're also a "good Catholic";
'Do nothing out of contentiousness or out of egotism, but with humility consider others superior to you, as you look out not only for your own interests, but also for the interests of others'

I share your sentiment but can we please stop peddling the dangerous lie that the morning after pill is an abortificant. It can take up to 6 days after sex for sperm and egg to join and form a fertilised egg then 3-4 days to implant. No abortion takes place from taking the morning after pill, a woman is just preventing a pregnancy from starting.

On-topic, JRM is a self-serving millionaire weirdo, can you imagine anyone in any job thinking that it's OK to pretend to lie down and be asleep whilst they're at work? Carol in Sainsbury's would be sacked.
