No-one expects that to happen - and everyone has the right to back out of a purchase.

What ISN'T right is the way she got exclusive right to buy, then went totally quiet and didn't respond to any attempts at contact. This meant that the vendor couldn't put the flat back on the market, couldn't go forward with their own purchase, and had no idea where they stood.

That isn't illegal, but it is nasty and unnecessary - especially as she was well aware that the vendor was dealing with a huge personal grief.

It's about time guest's friend-of-the-povs halo was shown up to be the tarnished bit of cheap tinsel it is.
 
I can’t see what he’ll gain from coming on here. He’s out there in the real world & posting under his own name on SM - we haven’t even used or shown his name on this anonymous forum. Spread the story locally, see if the local rag will pick it up. She’s already only a really minor ‘celebrity’; her SM activity is of no interest to the general public. He’s been fighting on Twitter with (depending on your opinion) a troll or a sock. That’s not going to achieve anything.

Agree - protecting his own mental health and supporting his family have to be his main priority. But sometimes we need to stand up for ourselves to do this.

Carp Man - do what is best for you and your family. That's what matters. It's easy to get carried along in the feeding frenzy that sometimes erupts in situations like this, but not always the best thing.

I 100% agree. It's just extremely cunty, even if not technically illegal.

I've never bought or sold property, but a friend of mine had put in an offer on a property and the seller was exactly the kind of absolute dick-about that Jack is, he accepted the offer then resolutely stopped replying to his solicitors or to the estate agent. He clearly just didn't really want to sell the place (we suspect it had been forced by a divorce settlement or similar and he'd been very sketchy, insisting on cash buyers only and leaving the place in absolute filth for viewings) so my friend ended up out of pocket and waiting about for weeks while other flats came and went on the market. She was a cash buyer with options and there was no chain, but it was still an almighty headache and extremely stressful. The guy could have just pulled out and told her at any stage but just decided, eh. CBA. Yeah, guest technically hasn't done anything illegal or particularly unusual but it is unbelievably rude and inconsiderate, especially since she knew these sellers were in a difficult position and time was of the essence.

I expect that, much like other times she's been a nasty, spiteful POS, it arises from the fact that she was embarrassed. She was probably mortified that she hadn't realised the implications of the 60-year lease and in her head, she probably thinks the vendors should have flagged that and offered money off for it, even though I assume the flat was already reduced because of that issue. Anyone who's dealt with a narc knows they're never more vicious than when they have been made to look or feel stupid because in their own head, they are so much better than everyone else.

There are definitely receipts and the lady was a poster here too. She knew Ma Ev and contacted her to tell her about what guest had been doing. Guest went loco of course. I've always wondered what happened to our member because she left Tattle after this.

I think there's some truth to that, but it's not the kind of mortification, embarrassment or shame that a non-Narc would feel - it's more like a visceral anger that the world/people are not behaving like they thought it should.

Exactly this! Sometimes I feel like I'm on a Jack apologist thread reading the excuses made for her.

She's acted abominably and she's been outed for it. It isn't normal and run of the mill for buyers that have paid a bond of trust to keep the property off market to then ghost the seller. It's perfectly normal to say I'm dropping out and no reason given but she's acted the bleep here and I hope that she's given a very wide berth around Southend now, the nasty little madam.
