If you want to see how little in-depth research PR and marketing teams do on their paid partnerships, look no further than Linda McCartney. Not only did she get a paid gig for them in January 2021, despite not being vegetarian, let alone vegan, and in fact extensively promoting low welfare meat and fish, but she’d also Tweeted them this two years before!

It's far FAR too early to be reading about guest, several inches, and sausage. Is this why she degloves them?

She really has always been that 50 year old work colleague you avoid cause all she does is moan about inconsequential shite and smells faintly of lavender and sertraline.

I misread this and thought you were saying Linda McCartney wasn't a vegetarian! I thought - WHAT???

I wonder if 100-300g of boiling water counts as filling it with "any other liquid"?

Today is the launch of Challenge Poverty Week, an annual thing that brings together activists, policy-makers and all sorts of organisations to share experiences, examine evidence and hear testimonies. You can find out about it here:

There's nary a mention of our favourite anti-poverty campaigner so whatever she's been doing behind the scenes must be bound by the Official Secrets Act.

Great timing for the Curry's marketing fiasco to blow up just as the country's poverty crisis is being highlighted.

Please can I just mither for a minute about the recipe for the vegetarian 'gratin': https://archive.ph/2023.10.14-10344...es-air-fryer-and-pressure-cooker-recipes.html
This is to be cooked in this Tefal Turbo pressure cooker: https://www.currys.co.uk/products/t...-pressure-cooker-black-10240477.html?q=575341

Recipe and ingredients pasted below, my commentary in bold:

Vegetarian ratatouille layered gratin
Serves: 4 people.
Preparation time: 15 minutes.
Cooking time: 10 minutes.

Ingredients
1 tbsp cooking oil
1 medium onion
225g can chopped tomatoes
1 small red pepper
100g white long grain rice This really isn't a lot of rice for 4 people! Is this meant to be a whole supper?
100ml water
2 courgettes
1 aubergine
1 crushed clove of garlic
½ tbsp mixed dried herbs
A garnish of fresh parsley
150g cheddar cheese grated
150g Greek feta cheese [save a small portion for garnishing, at the end]
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp salt and pepper

Method
1. Thinly slice the courgettes, aubergine, onion and red pepper. Add all into a medium sized bowl. WHY??
2. Add the oil, paprika, mixed dried herbs and season with salt and pepper. Mix this well. Would help if she said to pop the kettle on at this point.
3. Add the uncooked rice into the pressure cooker with the chopped tomatoes and mix. No salt I notice...mmm, bland
4. Add the boiling water, put the lid back on and lock it. Turn the device on the rice cooker, close the lid and bring to pressure. Cook for 5 minutes at 120C. I query the ratio of liquid to rice here just because it's Jack, but can't be arsed to calculate it properly. Also "Turn the device on the rice cooker" - nice proofreading, folks...
5. Heat the cooking oil in a frying pan and lightly fry the courgettes, aubergine, onion and red pepper mix. You've used the oil twice! Once to mix with the sliced veg in a bowl in step 2 (WHY?) and again here in the pan.
6. Dice the garlic finely, and place this with the cooked vegetables in layers on top of the cooked rice. Add a dash of paprika, mixed herbs and salt and pepper on top. You've already used the herbs, paprika and seasoning in step 2
7. Then continue to layer the rice, then the vegetable mixture and seasoning until the ingredients run out. Within each layer add a sprinkling of the feta cheese. Bad luck if you've got to this step and already dumped all your veg on top of the rice - it's unclear that you should take out most of the rice, leaving one layer, then build up alternating layers of veg and rice.
8. Add a sprinkling of cheddar cheese on the top, close the pressure cooker lid and bring to full pressure. A sprinkling of cheddar? Or all the cheddar? 150g grated cheddar is a quite a lot of cheese! Also, steam cooked cheddar! mmmm Rubbery!!
7. Cook for 10 minutes using the ‘slow cook’ function.
8. Once cooking has finished, remove the pressure which has built up inside by using the release button. Then remove the lid carefully as some residual steam may escape.
9. Once plated, garnish it with parsley and any remaining feta and serve. So, the whole point of a gratin is that it's grilled - literally what the word means. no mention of browning it off to give a nice melty toasty topping. The Tefal cooker does actually have a 'Brown' function, but does she mention it? Nope. And the dish itself isn't oven safe so I wouldn't recommend putting it under a grill or in the oven to crisp up. Triple tested my arse. No wonder there isn't a picture of this one, I bet it looks disgusting.

How is this collaboration helping Currys flog these appliances with no publicity? Are there recipe cards on the shelves in-store? Is it a feature in a free magazine by the cash desk/door? Is it an advert masquerading as an article in Take A Break? Did it get put out in the hope of it being picked up as such by The People's Friend? Or has the whole thing already been written off? It sure as tit isn't going to be on YouTube. Send explain-oes 🤪

It will be ok to put water in if it's a multi function oven and designed for it (not a £50 air fryer in that case) but you definitely shouldn't put water in and press air fry!
It’s a dual drawer air fryer and grill. She puts the rice and water straight into the air fryer drawer despite instructions specially saying not to do that.

What the duck is wrong with her? and what the duck is wrong with curry’s? Incidentally it’s a tenner cheaper to buy it from Tefal direct.
