I expect that the first day or two will be her 'high days'. She'll get a blue jumper, have a nice meal, say how wonderful edinburgh is, and how she's feeling better, that she's having a re-awakening. She'll have an idea for a project. She'll want to learn Scots and ask her followers for their favourite words, or she wants to write a recipe book for people grieving and does anyone have any post-funeral recipe ideas. Recently I remembered her case and wondered what happened to her. Turns out that since then she’s written a book, featured in a Netflix documentary about her life, and has her own Afro hairdressing business (do not go there, Jack). Her business seems pretty popular and her instagram is full of nice comments. I’m sure she gets a fair amount of tit still, but despite being a problematic and fairly public figure she does come across as... normal-ish? As normal as someone who pretends to be another race can be 🤷🏻‍♀️ Compared to Jack, she seems boring

There are some parallels between Rachel and Jack: both have non-biological siblings from vastly different backgrounds to themselves. Both seem to have felt like they weren’t a priority compared to these siblings (Rachel’s claims are more overt and extreme). Both seem to have appropriated their siblings’ disadvantages - being black in Rachel’s case, suffering trauma/poverty in Jack’s

I think it’s pretty wild that Rachel still lives a reasonably successful life with a lot of public support despite continuing to ‘black up’. It makes me wonder if Jack being exposed for her poverty lies would lead to the same result. Personally, I believe she would be able to recover from it if she was otherwise a decent person whose whole life didn’t resemble a bad soap opera. But she isn’t and she can’t help repeatedly bleeping up

Ooh, I’ll look up that documentary, thank you! I did read an interview with her about a year ago, following up on where she was now. I remember she was quite cagey with the journalist but seemed happy making art or photographs or something. The parallels you draw are really interesting here.

Agreed, I would imagine that it would take a little bit of planning, at least a couple of days. If the kitten had survived, what would she have done about her?

If there is another parent in the child’s life there is never a need to sell his favourite toy. For the pennies she would have got for it (assuming the story is true...lol) surely the other parent would say “I’ll ‘buy’ it so he can keep it”.
 
Given that she didn’t travel into the studio for the first week of DKL (which, admittedly, feels like forty five thousand Jackyears ago), I’m really surprised she’s been blasé enough to travel to the other side of the UK in the middle of a pandemic.
