This makes zero sense?! Also not sure how this even works. 20 minutes cooking time plus prep for BAKED BEANS?
I remember years and years ago THAT MAN did a fancy baked beans. I think it was on the original 15 menu, probably a bit of a gimmick but at least 15 did a bit of good for those on it.

ETA: so my recollection varied slightly!!

It states clearly at the start of the book that povs have to buy a tin opener as cheap tins don’t have ring pulls. This book has been written with this in mind, that the poorest in society often pay more for cheaper items, a “poverty tax” if you will. Their key card electric costs more. And now so do their baked beans. Instead of food, they are given a book telling them how to use twice as much time effort food and leccy to produce a basic meal. Also Jack sells more books.
Remember for each book Jack gets less than 50p, so she needs to shift at least 100 to pay for that wanky dog skeleton tat (plus tax)
I really don't understand why she didn't use her platform to request, where possible, that people donating fans to food banks gave ring-pull cans

She is too busy asking them to buy her book to donate to the food bank?
Not all basic tins are in “tins” some are in cartons
Not all basic tins need an opener/not all fancy tins have a ringpull
I think some food banks offer tin openers anyway
Most people already own a tin opener

I am feeling queasy at the thought of that tinned spinach mingling with the tin of soup, then a tin of chicken in white sauce. This could be the sloppiest slop ever produced. I presume that sort of chicken is quite pricey (though I do get that all these things might be given to a food bank) but if any Frau would take one for the team and try this, I think we could have some very entertaining pages.

Lattes??
All together now…
JACK DOESN’T DRINK COFFEE!

You have reminded me that I noticed that in the introduction of Good Food for Bad Days she says this ...

Mere months later she's saying she doesn't drink coffee. I wonder if the FANCY coffee machine ended up in one of the skips.

I'm now fantasising about Jack appearing on The Apprentice. The boardroom scenes would be

OMG imagine if she got to the interview stage!

Fellowship frauen, mithering on again about “that” essay, I see there was much mention of making a list of “resentments” which step would that relate to, out of interest?
I have had friends who have done the programme and I know one had a very “angry” phase early on and I’d guess it was after this!
Don’t know if anyone has answered this already but it’s Step 4. It’s a hard step and yeah, you go through an angry stage. It’s why they suggest that whilst you do a robust job, you don’t spend too long “sitting” in this step as it gets painful

And as @Nottonightbabe has illustrated, cockles and crab paste? She's playing into the old idea that only crap gets donated to the food banks. Most people are really mindful of what they donate. She's a walking Tory poster girl.
I’ve found the food banks are very good at telling you what they need these days. Our school just did a donation to our local one, they sent out lists of what they required. No need for any peach curry concoctions.

I am happy to oblige. Behold, the homemade baked bean recipe! Rinse the beans, then re-sauce them with a tin of tomatoes, salt and sugar. 15 minutes cooking baked beans. Mush, anyone?View attachment 842187 q
Where can you buy frozen sliced onion? I only ever see white onion diced. Red onion is frozen sliced.

frozen anything as an ingredient assumes constant electricity.
