Yep it’s pretty standard for directors of companies to pay themselves minimum wage & top up with dividends as they incur lower rates of tax than a salary does.
Also would like to point out the other privileges self employed directors of small companies get such as allowable expenses out of company funds (I imagine cook books for research & laptops & petrol & telephone bills /WiFi & train fare & even accommodation eg a hotel if a project is away from your local residence) which naturally helps your living wage stretch a lot further
Edit: I don’t disagree with her doing all the above it’s 100% above board and legal, every self employed director does it. I think it’s immoral to make out you’re man of the people scraping by when your set is very different. You can be an ally to the poor whilst not being poor, it makes me cringe to think someone would fake to be in the same boat when they’re not?
