That’s exactly what it is.

Yep it’s pretty standard for directors of companies to pay themselves minimum wage & top up with dividends as they incur lower rates of tax than a salary does.

Also would like to point out the other privileges self employed directors of small companies get such as allowable expenses out of company funds (I imagine cook books for research & laptops & petrol & telephone bills /WiFi & train fare & even accommodation eg a hotel if a project is away from your local residence) which naturally helps your living wage stretch a lot further 😊

Edit: I don’t disagree with her doing all the above it’s 100% above board and legal, every self employed director does it. I think it’s immoral to make out you’re man of the people scraping by when your set is very different. You can be an ally to the poor whilst not being poor, it makes me cringe to think someone would fake to be in the same boat when they’re not?

especially as someone who would def criticise others for doing the same

Possibly controversial here and baring in mind I don't particularly like her .... but I did agree with her on the Jamie O issue I for one am sick of the sight of him .... he slightly fucked me off with the turkey twizzler debate but I could see he had a point that school dinners were shocking.... but once he got started on sugar that was it for me.... as someone who gets major migraines if I touch anything with chemical sweetner in it I was horrified when all the major drinks companies started taking the sugar out of there product to avoid the taxation completely affecting the taste and making it undrinkable for a lot of people who are sensitive to sweetners .... so I kind of applauded her tweets 😂

I hadn't heard of this vile, despicable woman until I read today's Lime Goss article, and I'm completely disgusted with everything I've read, including the reason Sainsbury's dropped her. The Guardian article rings a bell though - I have a vague recollection of one of their columnists claiming Cameron only felt "privileged pain" over his son's death. I don't like the Guardian if I'm honest, it's totally despicable that they signed off on that for publication. Was that Jack..? Did the Guardian drop her too or does she still write for them?

It's infuriating that people like this get opportunities that they don't deserve, totally ill-gotten gains 😠 What on earth possessed the BBC to give this insect a platform? I hope it gets scraped, just like her 45k deleted tweets 😂

I don't know why she feels like she has to still be poor/ disadvantaged/ live life like she's on benefits. She has authentically (probably 😏) had that experience and nobody can take that away from her. The success she's had since doesn't take away the facts of where she came from, the time that she was writing the blog etc. There's really no need to keep tenuously pretending that your life hasn't changed since you became famous and had professional success. That's what's got everyone's backs up here I think, the lying and pretending that she's something she's not.

In fact it's offensive to people still in that situation. Does she really think a genuine foodbank using single mum who is time-poor, has a couple of tins in her cupboard and £1.90 til payday will identify with her expensive leather jackets, £160 perfume, C4 exec partner and 'crappy' not-bungalow? No, so jsut stop it. She clearly struggles with her identity and wants both - to be posh with her Penhaligons and middle class comforts - but can't bear to open herself to any criticism so can't own it/ be herself. So it's no wonder she comes across inauthentic, because she is.

Lots of news reporters are saying how very hard and long hours Boris has been working and stating 12, 14 and sometimes even 16 hour days.

Keeps making me think of Jack and her 20 hour days that she does 7 days a week. As if anyone is regularly doing 20 hour days, even if most of her job is being on twitter. She must have to constantly exaggerate everything to keep getting that praise she craves for a dopamine hit.

Totally agree Katienana, her niche doesn't actually correspond with what the problem is at the minute. It's not poverty or foodbank cooking as it used to be, it's universal shortage of certain ingredients and how to make a big shop of sometimes unusual items last longer (to minimise trips out). So if anything it's about cooking with unusual ingredients/ substitutes, but definitely not tins as they're what's sold out!

Was literally about to say the same. At no point is JO claiming to create recipes for “poor people”.

Your message makes no sense to me. Jack hasn't taken Jamie Oliver to task on the failed sugar tax that resulted in more artificial sweeteners (i'd agree that is a mess). She's caused a pile on because he got a job that he was more qualified and experienced for than her.

Just because you don't like Jamie Oliver (who I think has his heart in the right place, but does miss the mark) doesn't mean Jack is right to get her followers to attack him. It's exactly that kind of thinking that has got Jack so many followers - people don't like Katie Hopkins ergo Jack Monroe must be good as she successfully sued her. They can both be crappy people.

Moaning about not having enough time in according to her crappy pit and I presume her mum actually apologising for not babysitting her child.
That is a very odd conversation to have with your mother on twitter.... And once again Jack.showing she doesn't care about anyone but herself and not once making a comment about her poor mothers symptoms, but no doubt there will be a tweet shortly, after her "friends" let her know what we have been saying, that she of course immediately called her mother to make sure she was OK or rushed straight over and had a conversation through the window and wouldn't have such a conversation on twitter as it wouldn't be appropriate or some other BS 😂 I suspect her mother and the kids father do the majority of the parenting of the child since you know she works 20hr days etc 🤦🏻‍♀️😂

I don't think she's overly inventive, my 93 year neighbour has been cooking like her since she was a young woman. It was called in her day living off your rations. Some of the concoctions my neighbour makes would make your hair stand on end. She throws together tins of all sorts and makes a meal.

Great Lime goss article on her. Well lets be honest one of the reasons she prob didn't get the job was because she had a cooking segment on This morning a few weeks ago and made a tit show of it. Alison Hammond did a better job when she baked a bloody brownie!

I’m just watching it on her channel now, I can’t reconcile the clearly shy person on screen with the twitter personality?

Also this video is on her official channel & it’s a video recording of it on TV, sound is awful. Could she have not asked them for the video asset? Or screen recorded it off itv’s player? She has a MacBook she doesn’t even need to download anything new to do it! It makes you wonder how smartly she’s working in those 40 hour days.
