J. K. Rowling #8 The TRAs squalling

Can I park myself here? I've had bit of a JK Rowling revival recently. I'm currently re-reading Harry Potter and Strike and having such a bloody lovely time. I consider myself a 'leftist' in most areas and my Twitter timeline is always full of people condemning JKR. So many of my friends have thrown away all of their JKR books and can't seem to separate the art from the artist. Delving back into her worlds has been such a comfort and feels like my own personal little treat! This morning I've just been re-listening to The Witch Trials podcast and she's bloody brilliant.

I’m so glad to have found this thread about the wonderful Jo Rowling. I have been a fan of hers and the Wizarding World since I first read Philosophers Stone back at the beginning in the 90’s as a child, hence my Tattle name !.

I am a gay man (yes, I dared to say that outloud 😂) and I fully support everything she has said about sex and women’s rights. I whole heartedly love all she’s said defending gay men and lesbians. It is absolutely insane that gay men like myself who are only attracted to biological men are “transphobic” or “homophobic”. I can’t remember who said this but I remember some big wig of a charity called gay men like myself “sexual racists”.

I’m ashamed that so many of my fellow gay men clearly not listened to a single word Jo has said. She is not transphobic in the slightest , she’s said on many occasions that she wants trans people safe & protected.

I think that was Nancy Kelley, of Stonewall. She certainly made a few comments along those lines.

Edit: yep, she was the buffoon in question 🙄

Strike, The Ink Black Heart television series to air in December! I am more of a book fan and eagerly awaiting the next installment, but excited for the series too! The first look didn't give a specific date, just says December.

I am mostly a silent reader; I think I posted a few years ago on one of the earlier threads with a similar sentiment to yours! I was so happy to find people who are positively discussing JKR's novels, and don't really feel like I can discuss them with friend groups in person. Thanks to everyone here who is eagerly engaging with her writing! I never found anything better than Harry Potter as a child or young adult. And, while my reading has expanded as an adult, JKR still tops my favorites list. ❤

Well I agree with everything JK has said but even if I didn't she's still a brilliant writer.

People who can't separate art from the artist need to give their heads a wobble IMO. How many musicians artists writers etc all live pure blameless lives 🤔😁 practically none of them.
For example I think Bill Wyman did some very dubious things but that doesn't mean I wouldn't listen to the Rolling Stones ever again.

And him bleeping a 13 year old child is a *bit* worse than a woman stating the scientific fact that men cannot become women and to be in favour of safeguarding safe places for women and girls.

New images from the bbc The ink black heart no date yet except December I think the 15th omo 😉
