The swan symbolism recurs throughout and usually relates to Robin & her relationships - such as at hers & Matthew’s wedding when the photographer wants to get a photo with the swans as a pair in the background, but they keep swimming apart

Lethal White was the Strike book I liked the least, but the first one where I started getting invested in Strike and Robin as a potential couple.

It's also a story in Greek mythology 'Leda and the Swan!'

Awww, I missed that we had a new thread and was wondering why nobody posted about the new header.

I'm really intrigued by the swan, like you all said already, swans come up so often, for both Robin (the wedding pic) and Strike (Leda). I wonder whether we get something about Rokeby (swan as a stand-in for a weird father figure) and I'm pretty sure that Apollo - the god of music - is usually depicted with a chariot drawn by swans.
Plus Apollo is the twin of Artemis, that could be a nod to Robin's "nickname" from Running Grave.
Swan symbolism returning for book 8 would also fall in line with the symbol / pattern repetitions in even/off books - we had the wedding pic swans in Lethal White(book 4), not sure right now whether there was any swans in IBH, and now we get them back for HM.

JK Rowling’s video message at the LGB Alliance (where trans activists released insects in the venue to disrupt it 😡)

I would love to sit round a table with her one day and just chat. She's so brave because speaking / going against the grain is a very tough place to be. I hope her family treasure her, especially the young ones who might be more susceptible to peer pressure and ideology.

I think I need to brush up on some of the imagery, I'd forgotten about the swans! We need a release date Jo!

😂 I had a dream tonight that JKR had put up a new header, there was a tiger on it for some reason and the number 106. We all interpreted it as a countdown to the release date and I was madly excited! And sad that I’m starting a new job and probably won’t be able to take off the release day if it is during my probation period.
Ran to Amazon for preorder.

Woke up very excited and was about to tell my bf about finally having the date to realize that that was a dream. 😂 What a letdown

Ooh yay! I can't wait.

Anyone think we're going to get some big twist on everything so far in the last Strike book, whenever that is? Something about Strike's background, maybe?

I've seen some theories from people saying that his parentage might be questioned. I personally don't think so - while it is true that it was established in the book that Rokeby is his father "by test" - this must have been done when we was a kid, where DNA tests weren't around, which can leave doubt. However, we now also know Prudence and have had e.g. Robin confirm that there is a physical semblance between them. So this seems a but too far-fetched as the big twist for me. Maybe something about Leda?
