Huw Edwards #16

Erm... This is because I took issue with you spouting nonsense about something and you didn't like it.

I was notified by the tagging and was going to say he feels no remorse, it's like he thinks this happened to someone else and was out with his control, but you can get that much from the trial reports I think. I did leave the thread because I really didn't want to keep coming across badly and saying things which could hurt people when that wasn't my intention. But no, I'm not lying. It doesn't matter what you think, but it's weird that you honestly believe someone would go to so much effort for absolutely no gain whatsoever.

I hadn't seen that either. It's odd to be so specific about ages, unless it's a legal thing? But he has admitted it then. No doubt. He's a paedophile.

This is copy & pasted from BBC news website so nothing new?

In December 2020 Alex Williams said that he had ‘a file of vids and pics for you of someone special’,” prosecutor Ian Hope told the court.
“Mr Edwards immediately queried who the subject was and was then sent three images of seemingly the same person.”
That person was aged between 14 and 16 and the images were “Category C” in the table of severity of abuse, the lowest of the three tiers.
Williams then asked Edwards whether he wanted the “full file”.
Edwards responded: “Yes xxx...”

Williams then sent further and more severe images of abuse and a final video file of a Category A incident involving abuse of a boy aged between 13 and 15. Edwards and Williams wished each other a Happy Christmas.

Also worth noting that it was mentioned in court that Huw Edwards started messaging Alex Williams when he was a teenager, and that the texts were sexual.

When Huw Edwards pleaded guilty in July, we knew that he had communicated with Alex Williams, the man who supplied the indecent images, from at the very least December 2020.
That’s when Williams, convicted earlier this year, sent Edwards the first images that count as “indecent”, the archaic legalese for depictions of abuse.
The online relationship in fact began two years before that and it was of a sexual nature.

And this not sure why it’s being posted in bold like it’s new. Anyone who is interested would surely have read the article on the BBC website?

This particular quote hasn't been talked about on this thread before. Quite a few people here had been under the impression that he hadn't asked to see underage people, and that he wasn't interested in teenage boys. Always good to highlight relevant material for people who may not have read every article.

I've put the direct quotes in bold to make it clearer which parts are my own words.

The issue is exactly how to do that without resorting to something like putting the ½ age + 7 rule into law, which I don't think would do much except make lawyers money.
You do it the way many countries seem to have managed without crashing the judicual system. The age of consent in Japan for example is 16. If a 15 year old has sex with a 17 year old no one is in trouble. If a 15 year old has sex with an 18 year old, the 18 year old is in trouble.

It's about legally recognising the difference between an adult having sex with an adolescent and an adolescent having sex with an adolescent.

I'm not saying nothing like it could be done. But I also dont think the political will is there to do it. If they do anything it'll be raise the age of consent to 18 across the board, and keep the CPS guidelines as they are in terms of having a presumption against prosecution if both are under 18 or it's very close age wise between them. I wouldn't have much if any issue with that.

My specific point was about people on social media who have called for it to apply to all ages, not just adolescents. So people calling for it to be illegal for a 38 year old to sleep with someone under 24 or whatever.

Those people are morons who never leave their houses or sleep with anyone but their cat.

I see his wife filed for divorce today.

What took her so long???? Clinging onto the gravy train that was her husbands BBC salary for a bit longer???

She knew about his dirty little secrets and covered up.......disgraceful!
I don’t think any of this is her fault or that she covered up for him.
I think she was brave fronting it up by naming him initially so other people’s names could stop being dragged into it.
I think it says a lot that there haven’t been loads of leaks from her or an interview looking for sympathy and that the papers for the most part have left her alone as well. No pap walks looking sad like so many other wives would do in her position.
She’s being quite dignified and cracking in with her life in my opinion.

Tidy three million pound profit on a mortgage free home.

Stunning home that won't be on the market long.
Attic bedrooms are a bit tit. All looks a bit bland and personality free. https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/153505529

I’m not sure I’d want to buy a house where I knew a middle aged bloke had been grooming teenagers online and watching children being raped on his computer.

I feel for his wife and children. She had the guts to stand up and name him while he hid behind her skirts and called depression. As a wife that alone would have killed me, never mind all the other things that came later. She has 5 kids and yes they are grown , her instinct would be to protect them no matter how old they are. I hope they can all recover from this.
Including without question the poor kids in those pictures and videos. I wish the judge would have made more reference to the children that were abused. Seems their suffering has been forgotten in amongst HE pension and salary.

which room did he take a photo of his arse in?

I feel for his wife too, and his kids.
It’s a public humiliation. And then disgust, betrayal all those years.

his wife behaved very dignified initially and has been through a lot for sure.

how is the way forward? divorce is the right thing to do. what about family occasions, the kids, grandkids, all those things?

I think they deserve privacy.

the risk is now that HE has a lot of free time and no one to ground him. let’s hope he is being well monitored.

It’s possible that she waited until he was out of inpatient care and the sentencing was done, so she could be sure there’s no argument against her about his mental state. While under inpatient care he may have been deemed unfit to sign any legal documents.

Also, she will hopefully get a good settlement with an element from his BBC pension.
