It’s all gone very quiet, he’s not been sighted out and about anywhere to my knowledge. I wonder if he’s alone this Christmas? Has his family disowned him?

But how does he get by. He has to venture out sometimes surely. Or does he get other people to do his chores. If so I wonder who’s stood by him.

It's relatively easy these days to never leave the house if you don't want to.

Very easily. Ocado/Tesco/Sainsbury’s etc delivery, cleaners, Amazon, Task Rabbit. He literally has no reason to go out. Probably has a home gym.

A home prison - although his mother lives in west wales and i can’t imagine him not visiting.

The pathetic sentences for him is just rage-inducing.

Why is child abuse/child porn treated so lightly by our courts? Is it because of the prisons being full or just hopelessly out of touch judges or what?

Judges have to sentence following the guidelines set out by the sentencing council.

So it’s nothing to do with how “out of touch” they are.

Yep. Regardless of what the judge thinks, it was clear he wouldn’t get a custodial sentence when the man who sent / originally created the images - who was already on the SO Register - didn’t get one.

So it’s nothing to do with how “out of touch” they are.

But judges have been known to come out with utter bollocks - such as the one who called a burglar "brave" (I know what the judge was driving at but it was still a particularly ludicrous/inappropriate thing to say, imho) so there's that.

Am aware they can only work within the guidelines that they don't set but even then so many sentences seem to be hopelessly lightweight?

If there’s a precedent set by other sentences for similar crimes the judge will take that into account, or it’ll end up as an appeal and be reduced.
