So, I seen when they all died, what’s the aftermath like? I seen one episode after and it was unbearable to watch again😂
 
Hollyoaks has been boring however they've highlighted some good points like the conspiracy theories with becky (slightly far fetched but you do get people like that) also the racism thing with the new family , it's good they're showing the different sides of it and how easily people can just make racist comments without a second thought , although I don't think giving Cindy a personality transplant with her involvement in this storyline works well , she would usually be the narrow minded person to those sort of things
 
As a British Chinese person it annoys me a bit how they are promoting the Chen-Williams racism storyline as unique and involving "the first East Asian family in soap." That's half an East Asian family, which includes a white dad and a very white-looking mixed race son. This isn't a "bad" thing, but there is less representation of ESEA men than women in the media and often includes a white dad or sometimes mum instead of a fully ESEA family. There's also a lot of focus on how the white characters feel about it without acknowledging they will never experience the same kind of racism. And while Becky is the obvious choice to attack someone over the idea of COVID spreading, it would be nice to bring in another perpetrator to demonstrate that racism doesn't just come from people that are obvious raving loonies that no one likes
 
They're still playing it as if Ella wanting a child because she feels her own parents failed her is a good decision and adults should support her in it, rather than trying to get her any psychological help etc. While the show has done similar storylines several times I really do think it panders to a certain fanbase that thinks women exist to have babies, are anti-abortion and hate the idea that any woman doesn't want to be a mother (who are vocal on the show's social media whenever there is a pregnancy storyline)
