Holidays #4 2024 onwards

I have I think 5 times, all just for chill relaxing holidays I really like it there

That's exactly what I'm after. Which airport do you fly into and what's the average transfer time to that area? Google was telling me 3 hrs (!) and that the plane makes a stop before flying to Reus airport? Is that true? I hope not!

Any hotel recommendations? Going with a friend. We just want a nice sandy beach, hotel with a big pool and local restaurants all nearby.

Thanks 😊

Hello hello!
Anyone here from Scotland? We've never been, and Mr Mog decided to spontaneously book the Lochness Marathon next month and we have no clue where to stay that doesnt cost an arm and a leg!

Any recommendations? Thank you xxx
I am from the highlands. It can be expensive in Inverness during the summer, depending on your budget and if you have a car it might be worth going just outside and travelling in

We also got direct flights to Palma from Manchester or Liverpool.
One time I went was as a kid it was my first holiday abroad and I loved the hotel. When I've been since we stayed in a friend's family apartment but it was across the road from the hotel I stayed in as a kid. That hotel was Marina Skorpios but it's probably totally different from when I stayed there as was probably over 15 years ago. Last time I went to the area was maybe just after COVID. I'd go back though. That area there is a street with shops and restaurants (really I think two streets you can walk up one down the other) and the marina isn't far with more stuff. There is a market on the street once a week as well. There is transport to the marina you can get on the road train. I said to my friend I want to go back next year but I don't think we will end up going next year now.

Has anyone stayed in Cala D'or in Majorca?
I have been , Lovely coves , sea is a beautiful shade of azure, I like the town centre in the evenings as it, the town centre is pedestrianised and the place has a good vibe with plenty of decent restaurants, the marina is quite classy with the most amazing yachts and it is a bit more pricey there..

Unfortunately we're flying up as we're from very down south, so no car :(

Prices are extortionate I am shocked !!

Yes it’s a bit pricey and prices will have bumped up with the marathon being on. I have a friend who stayed at a caravan site when a concert was on as she hadn’t booked a hotel quick even and couldn’t afford hotel prices.

Trains are usually quite regular into Inverness but with it being a Sunday that might mean an earlier start and extra stress before a big run.

Looking at going back to the Caribbean. Looks like it's between Antigua or Grenada. The beaches on Antigua look incredible and hotels seem more upmarket but Grenada looks to have more Caribbean charm and it has Grand Anse beach. Anybody been to both?

We are off to Cyprus for the kid's half term week, I won't lie , I have been a little concerned about the middle east situation and closeness to Cyprus .. Anyone else going this summer and are you feeling the same?

We went in July. It was absolutely lovely. It’s not that close to any of it that you need to worry.

This is a really silly question…

going half board in a few weeks, I understand I pay for extra drinks/lunch etc, but for the breakfast and dinner that’s included, do I also pay for the drinks served during those times?

Yeah in my experience you have to pay for drinks at meal times - although quite often juice and coffee is included at breakfast!

Just wondering if anyone knows how far in advance eits recommended to book la sagrada familia tickets?
I was hoping to book them about a week before as I want to see what the weather will be like when I go. As I want to go to the beach for a day so would want to go there on the hottest day

Thinking of Madeira next Spring . Can anyone recommend places to stay and activities please ? Is it better to stay in Funchal ? X

For a first time, definitely stay in Funchal or Lido (next to Funchal). Much easier to get around that way if you don't plan on driving. We did a jeep tour of the East and West of the island in the first couple of days so we could have an overview of places to visit and then we went back to the places we liked. The toboggan rides down the hill are closed in Sunday and try to avoid doing this on cruise ship days as it will be rammed. So many lovely hikes and gentle strolls for all abilities. If you have more specific questions I can try to answer.
