Holidays #4 2024 onwards

Is there any drives you can park on close by? I know someone I work with was getting a flight from one of the London airports and was going to use one of these park on a drive websites.
Or I saw someone say booking a airport hotel room for the night was cheaper as you can then book the parking on their car park so maybe look into that?
We do the hotel and park but for two weeks it’ll be more than £200
Also can’t see parking on a drive be much less than £200

We're going to Northumberland for the weekend soon, around Bamburgh Castle - only a Sat-Sun trip though!

Does anyone have any other recs on stuff to do aside from the castle itself? I'm bracing myself for how cold it's going to be 😂

Ooh gorgeous part of the world. Bamburgh Castle is fab, great beach too. If you've time you should head into Alnwick, its not far at all and lovely for a potter around. My fave bookshop is in the Old Station and an absolute treasure trove - https://www.barterbooks.co.uk/ IIRC there are some nice pubs in Bamburgh too, it has been a few years since we last visited, but I'm sure we had a really nice lunch in one of them after we'd been to the castle.

I found a new bucket list.plave I've never heard of before, Socotra Island

Haha, that's funny because I was only just looking at that place yesterday. I saw it mentioned on a list (can't remember what the list was exactly) about locations, and it intrigued me enough for me to look into it a little more. It does look nice, I agree. I've become interested in that part of the world. Oman is supposed to be nice too. Problem is, there's so little time and money to visit all the places I want to go. I still need to check off Brazil (various locations), Thailand, Malaysia, Costa Rica, Tanzania, Zambia, Botswana, the list goes on, haha.

I'm going away in a few weeks. We booked it in April and I arranged the transfer. I emailed the transfer people to confirm times and send the flight numbers. This was a week ago and I haven't heard back would you assume it will still be booked in?

Yes, I would assume so. Have you paid for it already? If you are nervous about it and it’s not paid for then try and make other arrangements.
The only time I would be bothered about it is if it’s been arranged in a country I consider unsafe. Then I’d want to know it’s all been done

It's Paris and its one were you pay at the time. I'm fine with just going but the group in going with we need a baby seat so I'm just a bit worried if we get there and they don't show up it would it be hard to find one with a baby seat

What do you guys think of this.
My travel insurance is under my address but my doctor's is under my parents as I don't want to change doctors. Would it be better to put the travel insurance under my parents address as well incase they request history etc and it didn't match?

You’re over thinking the insurance. Just keep it under your address

Nah, it’s still your medical history. I would think there’d be a bigger problem with your home address not being true than what the GP has on file
Yeah if I had to change the travel insurance address I'd change it to match the doctors one rather than changing it at the doctor. I just hate going to the doctor I avoided it for a long time, finally comfortable with going so I don't want to change to a new place really

I thought they weren’t allowed to take you off their books if you move?
Maybe check and see what their policy is

Does anyone have an experience with esims? Are they worth it or would you recommend getting an actual SIM card at the destination of travel? I’m going to the far eat soon and I’ve never used an esim and reviews online are mixed?

I posted in the solo travel thread but I think more most on this one. This isn't until 2026 but I'm just undecided where I want to go and some places have the tours I want to do on black friday and I want to book asap so I have longer to pay it off..
It will be I. June most likely I go. I'm looking at either Indonesia (Komodo, Lombok), Costa Rica, Vietnam and possibly Sri Lanka I just can't decide which. Anyone been to any or multiple and if so which is your favourite?

Also just booked Disneyland Paris again for Halloween next year 🙈 Black Friday sale £290 each for 4 nights. £28 a month so I shouldn't really notice it going out of my bank. Canceling one of the UK breaks to go there instead and it's near enough the same price (without tickets)

How did you book this? I'd love to go to Disneyland. Was it on the official website?
