Yes I think the acting isn’t helping the storyline.

And it is ludicrous but often these dreadful incidents are aren’t they - you read about them and think who assessed that would work. And yet.
I like the actor but when he was really angry after Joanna told him she hadn't actually told anyone where she got the pills (the bit when their faces were really close) I just thought, man this angry grimacing he's doing is really bad acting haha.

There didn’t seem to be much love for last nights episode but I actually think it was a very clever episode. I think there’ll be a lot of things that people have already picked up on, that’ll link to the next few episodes in a very subtle way.

I kind of want to do a rewatch and see if there’s anything else.

I think Neil has good intentions (they alluded to him letting down his own kids in the past), but I think he is naive and easily influenced - the way Tommy spoke to him in prison showed Tommy is the one in control here. Claire and Neil assume he is no real threat because he is behind bars, but he's clearly planning something

It's interesting how we're weren't ever really told how Ryan really feels about the situation - he never openly defends Tommy, never explains why he wants to see him directly, we just get it secondhand from Claire. I think it's a case of him being curious and wanting to find things out for himself and it's not clear how that will pan out - Tommy might assume he can manipulate him, but I don't think it will be that straightforward as Ryan clearly loves Catherine

I can’t get to grips with Neil. Is he just wimpy or being creepy?
Bit of both I think!

Was it Catherine's son who said Neil had little/no contact with is own kids after his divorce & this might be why he's felt sympathy for TLR? Very plausible, but didn't stop me shouting at the TV "but he's a kid! Just because he wants something doesn't mean it's ok to do. Who are the adults here?!"

I get far too invested in HV, very few eh?! plot moments & acting is generally superb.

Definitely think something is planned for his Leeds court appearance 🧐

Im with Catherine all the way. No way does a character like TLR deserve anything. He doesn’t deserve forgiveness, he doesn’t deserve a relationship with anyone to make him “more human”.
There’s people like him in real life and the only way forward is lock them up & throw away the key!

I think TLR either wants to see Ryan to use him for something or he’s doing it to get revenge on Catherine. He’s not interested in being a dad, no way!

I thought the writing (and obviously the acting) last night was sublime in the scenes with Catherine & Clare in the cafe and then Catherine & Ryan in the doorstep. Ryan mentioning his tea was getting cold and Catherine dismissing it because it was only stew! I’m definitely going to rewatch it. Sarah Lancashire deserves every accolade going.

That's how I took it. He's mega stressed, she's told him she's lied to him and she pushes him. He snaps. It isn't beyond the realms of possibility.

In that way? Mid-day in her own home, battering her with a household item and then injecting her? No sign of forced entry into the house. She clearly let someone in that she knew.

This has been a man who thinks about whether she even MENTIONED in passing to anyone where she got Diazepam, so serial numbers on packaging can't be traced to him. Who turns up in gloves to the home so his fingerprints aren't on anything when simply hashing out a plan...

It would have made more sense for him to snap if she turned down the offer to kill her husband and then returned to terrorizing him for money and/or an apartment - now adding that she would throw him under the bus for conspiracy to murder by detailing to the police his plan.

She literally told him in that moment no one in their immediate community knew that he supplied the drugs and that she didn't want to kill anyone, nor did she intend to threaten him - he was enraged that she shoved him and told him to f*ck off to the point that he made everything in his life immediately 50x worse. It seems bizarre to me. Their street will be teeming with police now.

I loved that bit, What you having, stew, it’ll be fine. Just little bits like that make it seem very “real life”
Im turning into such a Sarah Lancashire fan girl, she is a million miles away from Racquel in Corrie !!

I think he killed her because he knows she’s the weak link. The thugs told him to deal with the problem his plan to shut her up was to solve her problem but I think in the moment he’s realised she is the problem (and always would be) it will be interesting to see where he goes from here because he’s still going to be under pressure from them to cough up money every week!

A bit of creative licence at points tonight the same way they had 3 billion officers raiding that house yet it took forever for any of them to assist Catherine with the arrest. Wonder if there will be any come back for her punching that lad twice, there were people filming it in the background.
She was also wearing a bodycam I believe? Two punches probably would be classed as excessive force, she'd get away with one definitely.

Neil is dodgy, somehow linked to TLR, could be his father, kinda seems too obvious though.

I don't think Ryan is totally ignorant to TLR's flaws but doesn't understand enough about what happened to his mum etc.

Claire you daft cow.

P.E. twit is gonna be a wrong un and gonna screw with Ryan and somehow end up getting murdered by TLR, Ryan sees TLR for what he is, Ryan and/or Catherine get killed by TLR at the trial in Leeds where he goes psycho on them all.

Daniel the brother turns out to be a massive bleep. That's roughly what I'm going with.

Oh and Faisal is a dumb duck, he gets found out and the Ceviches or whatever they are called somehow get linked into the main storyline.
