It’s amazing but after re-watching S1&S2, this one is the worst out of them so far. I’m hoping as it gets going further it will get better.
He’ll try frame the teacher but I’m wondering if he’ll have an alibi/Ryan be his alibi. Also thinking he could be a perv but not sure..

I also think Tommy will escape or do something at the court in Leeds that makes Ryan realise he’s a psycho
My hubby reckons the teacher is a perv and gona groom Ryan :(

He did do. When he put the gloves on, I said 'too late mate'! And he sat on the furniture, so could have picked up or transferred fibres.
Yeah it seemed a bit unlikely. If he'd had the foresight to bring the gloves and the things to put over his shoes, touching the door handle before putting the gloves on and sitting down are pretty basic schoolboy errors. I know he's meant to be panicking, but it just seemed a bit daft.

I hope not, it's dark enough without that. I suppose it's feasible because he knows Ryan's dad is out of the picture.

That said, his wife previously said he has a go at kids to make them down/lash out, which effectively sets up a scenario where he can 'save' them. I took that to mean he does it to look like a hero and to make people think he'd never treat his wife badly. But who knows?!

I have wondered about the teacher and grooming and abuse. He clearly originally targeted Ryan because he thought he was vulnerable and living with a little old granny. And now he’s manipulated him into telling him he is actually now vulnerable. Plus the exchange of info - telling Ryan his marriage in unhappy. Highly inappropriate but will make Ryan feel they’re on a level.

What a strange episode, started off brilliant & descended into Catherine not turning off her police computer displaying confidential info, then to the chemist turning into a wannabe husband killer & then Catherine failing to notice the silver Honda 3 times.
It got a little bit ludicrous

I know. I don’t know why some of the officers didn’t pursue the silver Honda? They were ridiculously suspicious - and why were they circling the house knowing they would be spotted? No point just taking the reg as the car will be burnt out - and obviously not registered to those drivers..

Did anyone else find what Dr. Faisal did to the teacher's wife slightly bizarre and unrealistic? She was such a liability, manipulative and annoying beyond belief - despite her awful situation - but his anger in that moment, when it seemed like the high stakes situation was giving him a small out to try and figure out a new way of handling it all, seemed nonsensical.

For a character we're already supposed to have interpreted as being worried about absolutely everything he does being traced back to him, that felt poorly written.

It made absolutely no sense to hit her in her own home. Repeatedly too and so brutally? That was only EVER going to make absolutely everything worse.

I think it fits with what happened with the copper in series 2 as well. When he snapped & did what he did. I just aren’t sure the actor is as good in this one. But it’s the standard happy valley of things escalating out of hand

Yes I think the acting isn’t helping the storyline.

And it is ludicrous but often these dreadful incidents are aren’t they - you read about them and think who assessed that would work. And yet.

I think that’s why I’m a little bit disappointed in the turn the Faisal/Joanna storyline has taken. It feels rather formulaic: professional man gets out of his depth and takes desperate action, does something stupid and irreversible, and a woman ends up dead. Exactly the same as the Kevin Weatherill and John Wadsworth storylines.

I guess that’s the Happy Valley USP, but I was hoping for something a little less ‘samey’.
