Didn’t enjoy that episode at all to be honest.

it started off good and then it went downhill.

there wasn’t even a hint of why Neil might have agreed to take Ryan. Surely they wouldn’t have written the storyline as he just felt sorry for him? There has to be more to it than that!
Think there is probably more to it. Tommy was so patronising when telling Neil to get them a tea.

I'm not really getting the Clare going along with Ryan seeing Tommy. She was the first one to see how badly he beat her up and was there all through her recovery. And there's no coming back from pouring petrol over a 10 year old. Plus she's well aware of what happened to Ann and how it affeccted her. Neil is also way too involved which is a little odd.

The pharamcist stuff is almost creeping into parody territory!

The drug gang stuff is a bit meh, I know they were mentioned in series 2 but we never really got to see any of them.

On another side note - not sure what's going on with Ann Gallagher's hair lol
Exactly!

there’s got to be a reason why she’s agreed to it all surely. The whole storyline can’t just be that they felt sorry for him! But surely they would have hinted at it in that episode? Like Neil could have said to Claire “you remember what we agreed?”
The only thing I thought was off was when he said to Claire “I’ll tell her the same thing I told you, I felt sorry for him”.

I like the hair!

So many questions and still so many left unanswered but I’m concerned about Joanna’s girls. And I hope Ryan opens his eyes and reconciles with Catherine

Got to be something going on. They wouldn’t bring it back for a 3rd series just to be Ryan and Catherine falling out because he visited Tommy surely?

I knew poor Joanna was in for it. Phew. What an hour. I can see why Claire has gone along with this. A big thing in therapy / addiction counselling is that you are worth it and the need to forgive and accept yourself and others.

There is something dodgy about Catherine's son. It's probably waaaay out there but did he rape his sister?! I know Tommy is a psycho but he seemed genuinely non plussed when Catherine blamed him for her suicide...

I remember thinking something about Catherine’s son before. It was like he hates his sister for either being On drugs or for being with TLR. Initially it gave the impression that she chased TLR and that he gave her drugs. It then descended into an abusive relationship and rape. Which destroyed her. Her brother seemed to blame her for falling fir TLR .. which seemed cruel .

The way I view it is Daniel’s never fully forgiven Catherine for the things she said to him after Becky died - it took a lot of them 10 years to start seeing Ryan as part of the family. I think Daniel mourns the family life they had before Becky died and he’s resentful of her for that.

yes that’s true too. Daniel always seemed so angry with Becky

What a strange episode, started off brilliant & descended into Catherine not turning off her police computer displaying confidential info, then to the chemist turning into a wannabe husband killer & then Catherine failing to notice the silver Honda 3 times.
It got a little bit ludicrous
She clocked the car as soon as it came around the second time.

I thought the other police woman had changed the house number. I thought it said 21 originally. I rewound to double check and I was wrong, it was always 22 so that was a wasted few minutes trying to work out a connection that didn't exist 🤦‍♀️.

Yeah, but it took her 3 times, she clocked it twice going around the block too.
I think she moved to log it but got distracted by the 'Go, Go, Go'.

I thought it was a great episode. Plenty of twists and turns, with more to come I'm sure.

The pharmacist twist was interesting. I thought he'd been made to look a bit too pathetic beforehand, though (his daughters taking the piss out of him, tripping over multiple times on the path, etc). I suppose maybe to make him seem incapable of murder.

Not sure how he can frame anyone else or make it look like a suicide, though, as she'll have injuries to the back of her head. Also, I'm pretty sure he closed the door with his bare hand on the way in, because he didn't put his gloves on until he was in the house and the door was closed behind him.

He did do. When he put the gloves on, I said 'too late mate'! And he sat on the furniture, so could have picked up or transferred fibres.

As soon as she admitted to lying I thought, Joanna’s a goner! The first scene between Catherine and Claire I thought was amazing, the rest felt a bit slow and filler-y. I guess it can’t be nonstop action but half an hour on the fall out from the visit seemed to be too much given now we are half way through 😥

Catherine kicking Ryan out fully broke my heart though 😭😭😭

Do we reckon TLR could be busted out by the however-you-spell-their-names-evices on his way to the court appearance..?

omg so much to say with this episode

The first half was fantastic, I was hooked. I will forever be a Ryan supporter - he's a young 16 year old who's curious about his past and wants to know more. What I don't get though is how Ryan didn't seem to notice/care how TLR's face entirely changed when Catherine was mentioned by Neil at the visit. Scary how TLR's face switched from smiley to scary so fast 😬

Pharmacist/teachers wife story was boring to me but it's kicked off now. What is it with these desperate men on Happy Valley who think the best course of action to solve all their problems is to kill someone? First John, now Faisal. Idiots!

Wonder if that puffa jacket wearing fellow will be able to attend his own wedding? 👀
